Looks strangely familar. http://www.theradiosource.com/products/infospot.htm
Bill Baker of ISS informed me that item has been discontinued at least as shown in that promo.
When the ATU was discontinued over all the controversy surrounding its use, they resorted to mounting the Talking House/I AM Radio transmitter in a weather proof box to be placed top of the pole. The audio equipment still mounted in an enclosure below for access.

But isn't it true that apparently there has been no recognition/reaction/remedy by ISS and its supporters to the fact that "Part 15 AM" transmitter + 3-m whip installations elevated atop a pole also may not be compliant with FCC Part 15?
Long ground leads, coming up.

While clearly from Mr Blare's posts here this is a subject he hopes to ridicule/deflect/ignore, that will _not_ diminish its importance to those actually wanting to comply with Part 15.
Not at all, good sir, I understand this is a story you have to share and it deserves a full airing.
I just got excited with anticipation.
I will be quiet.

Anticipation of what?
Yes, I would concur-frankly it would seem the vendors don't care. They are simply selling a product and it is up to the user to ensure compliance.
Further, it would seem the FCC has no concern regarding the marketing practices of vendors otherwise the FCC would contact subject vendors to correct the vendors suggested installation procedures.
Therefore the FCC as much as the vendors are creating/allowing an entrapment situation by allowing the vendors to advertise a system portrayed as being compliant when used as advertised.
Caveat Emptor...
As a radio interviewer I can get things started with a question. It would be unfair if Rich were deprived of this opportunity to tell his story.
Q. Rich, in what way is the InfoSpot Certified Part 15 AM Transmitter in violation of the Part 15 Rules?
I personally know two AM part 15 installations within 7 miles of me, one in my city and the other 7 miles to the north of me that were installed by the company that sells and owns/manufacturers the transmitters and they are installed up in high places with long ground leads to Earth ground.
The station in my town, has the transmitter 60 feet in the air, audio module and powered through cat 5 cable, but 60 foot antenna structure is Earth grounded and so is the weather proof box housing the AM transmitter. In other words, the transmitter is grounded to Earth through the antenna mast, which is grounded to EARTH.
The person 7 miles north of me, has 3 of this sellers AM transmitters mounted high in the air, one is on a 3 story commercial building in the downtown area of that city, two are remotely located on two different businesses in the area that agreed to allow the installtion of these transmitters, which get an audio feed from the station's web site, both are mounted high up on poles attached to the structures, well above their roof lines, by 10 feet. Both installations have a wire going to Earth ground througha heavy braied copper cable to a ground rod at Earth level buried in the ground 6 feet.
I seen all three antenna structures myself, so I know how they are hooked up. The owner's of said stations, are DJ's NOT techs, NOT anyone who would know how to hook up their own outdoor transmitters. That is why, by recommendation of the other part 15 web site, agreed to buy from and have their transmitters installed by that seller/owner/manufacturer of said transmitters.
The seller is the best friend of and HIGHLY recommended by another part 15 related forum board that barks about non-compliance when it comes to other people who are not liked by said forum owner, but his best friend is guilty of installing non-compliant part 15 AM transmitters.
Both AM radio station's web sites clearly mention that part 15 related web site on their main web site pages, go figure huh?
Can you fill in the missing names above for the seller and the forum board and also name the part 15 forum board owner?????????????
I'll bet you can.
Bruce.
I think technology has advanced past the Talking House plus ATU, that always seemed like a costly, oddball hack to me. Putting the whole Talkinghouse in a big box seems like something a home experimenter would think of as well!
I emailed Bill Baker of ISS and he verified the older Talking House/ATU Infospot system has been updated and no longer uses that system.
He did not elaborate.
I advised him the old web-page was still accessable.
Post No. 3 asked: "...apparently there has been no recognition/reaction/remedy by ISS and its supporters to the fact that "Part 15 AM" transmitter + 3-m whip installations elevated atop a pole also may not be compliant with FCC Part 15(?)"
If ISS has made some kind of "change" could it be they were harassed as were two other part 15 transmitter manufacturers?
In any case, we have not yet been made privy to the allusion that the InfoSpot "may not be compliant with FCC Part 15".
My questions is: How would the ISS machine be non-compliant?
Way back on Monday Rich rhetorically asked: "But isn't it true that apparently there has been no recognition/reaction/remedy by ISS and its supporters to the fact that "Part 15 AM" transmitter + 3-m whip installations elevated atop a pole also may not be compliant with FCC Part 15?"
Since then several have asked for an explanation of the claim being alluded against ISS and the InfoSpot.
Now it's Friday, and no response has been forthcoming.
