and it's stereo!!!!
i am going to run CQuAM after i get the optimod and one of those greek 0-20 watt cquam exciters and run cquam using neutral loaded carrier current.
That sounds so cool and it will be like a solid commercial system, and also something that seemingly very few Carrier Current stations have done, CQUAM!
LPB's (Low Power Broadcasting's) literature talks about the possibility, or that some school has tried it, but I've found no info to confirm the existance of a Carrier Current school AM station in stereo. K-Rock's Online is the only station that's been proud enough to talk about his stereo CC AM operation.
LPB couplers (the tuner that connects the transmitter to the power line properly) have an output that's for neutral and 3 line outputs. The three line outputs are to be run to 3 phases of the power system, and they're all in parallel.
That's the traditional feed, good inside one building I guess, to get all areas of the building wiring using all the phases. Now to get out to the street and neighborhood, some are using "neutral loading", taking the terminals marked for the hot phases, and connecting them to the neutral of the line, while the output intended for neutral is connected to an independent ground, to allow the neutral line to take power.
What about other methods of coupling, like feeding the two phases of the AC line with a balanced RF signal, either with or without neutral ground, rather than parallel? It would seem the AC line could then be used more like an RF transmission line.
In any case, I'm all for C-QUAM, so what you're doing is great, rock and roll!
Here is another C-quam am stereo station that feeds their over the air signal over the internet from a Carver TX 11-A receiver. Got a few minutes, listen online, it's a real treat.
Nice rock95seven, now that's a station I'd check in with all the time, someone who's doing their utmost with what they have, commercial station or not.
I've debated with folk before and encouraged them to do everything with what they have, like for stations to not turn their stereo off, FM or AM, run C-QUAM if you have it, up to date RDS streams, push for impeccable sound quality out of your system and not reduce audio bandwidth or clip more, anything that won't harm the station's sound or neighbor stations.
That's how winners think, champions of their fields, you'd bet I'd be listening. Thanks for turning me on, to WI-ON!
"Thanks for turning me on, to WI-ON!"
No problem Nate Crime, i have conversations with their staff on a weekly basis, really a great station and the folks working there remind me a lot of the people i worked with in the past at WRSL.
Great that you're in contact with them Blue Bucket, and it's good to support them in trying new and different things. I think stations have good intentions when they add something like AM stereo, but then the audience doesn't respond, and they think their efforts are wasted.
"WION" said as a word, also reminds me of how a younger kid would say "lion".
