Hello, my name is Flotilla DeGlued, assistant to Mr. Blare. He asked me to say...
In Reply # 6 the Author noted that the majority of readers to this thread agreed with his (Mr. Blare's) interpretation of Rule 73.3550.
The Rule 73.3550 itself is quoted verbatim from the FCC Rules and was not voted on.
Mr. Blare said he is ignorant, or... I'm not sure what he said at that point, I'm on a winning streak playing Spider Solitaire.
even though i got it copyrighted, i didnt really care that you used it... i wish i knew thats all... no worries... ever since i got the tumour those last 6 months of 2014 it was a struggle to keep kdsx going from both my health aspect from having to take treatments and having to deal with a bunch of other things it that time frame as well... so i thought at the end of 2014 it was a good time to end it... but i hope that call sign works for you...
but anyway im getting off track...
there were a couple of times that the virginia farmboys (FCC) came to do field strength on my station... just a curtesy check it happens and i passed every time... one of the agents did talk to me wanting to know a couple of things... there was a thread or blog here a couple of years back about part 15 using defunct call signs or something like that... and i brought it up to the guy and he told me this... that when a part 15 uses a call sign that they use as an on air moniker and not a real call sign and if their paying tribute to a former station or if their using a call sign totally made up not being used by another radio station... and no one complains about it particuary they said they could care less if they did now they did tell me if i had a website... that i put on there somewhere that we use kdsx or whatever sign as a moniker and not a fcc legal call sign that will be a good thing to do... so this from a field agent so... if you agree with this great if you dont... dont care to argue with you on it so... hope this brings another perspective to this

This thread, "Identifying Part 15 Radio Stations Clarified," overturns earlier practices maintained in an earlier thread titled "Does the FCC Consider Part 15 Operators Broadcasters" in which Member Rich disagreed with Mr. Carl's interpretation of 73.3550, pertaining to identification of Part 15 transmissions.
At conclusion of that earlier thread Mr. Carl acqiesced by explaining his Part 15 transmissions were identified as "KDX1", the addition of the numeral "1" distinquishing the signal from any licensed station.
Discontent with that conclusion Mr. Carl tested his skepticism by interviewing a number of learned and trusted intellectuals and arrived at the more enlightened interpretation of 73.3550 revealed in this present thread.
Although Member Rich has already expressed his viewpoint in the earlier thread, he is certainly at liberty to repeat himself here.
