well it appears that me getting a FM SG and processor is not going to happen. i need to locate schematics and board layouts for a home made SG and fm processor featuring balanced inputs to use with my cable modulator. i more than likely have enough of a parts bin to build at least a SG w/balanced inputs.
Mentioning "FM stereo generator" made me think of something Tha Dood AM 1620 said in an e-mail, talking about different models of the Ramsey FM series...... or, no..... it was a transmitter review on Hobbyhopper.... the other Part 15 website, whose name I.... hobbycaster.com....is that it?
It was a review for the new Decade transmitter series, which from that is a very professionally designed and built unit, high priced, but with a superior FM stereo generator, compared to the more noisy (so said the review) generator chip in the Ramsey..... or...
But kc8gpd has an idea well worth a followup..... an FM stereo generator schematic we could build ourselves. Let's have one..... I'll start searching. You check your sources. Meet back here later.
Plenty of schematics out there for building a stereo generator. My favorite is the Panaxis SG Stereo Generator used in the FM-10 10 watt exciter/transmitter.
From what I can tell...all the parts are still easily obtainable...minus the etched PC board but that can be re-constructed too with the etch pattern in the back of the assembly plans.

We have pepper spray.
We have dogs.
We have horses.
Give us the link now or you could be fingerprinted.
It's Hobbybroadcaster.net Very nice site, but if you have msn/hotmail,gmail or some other free e-mail service you may not be able to register on their forums. Just contact the webmaster and he'll get you in.
"Give us the link now or you could be fingerprinted."
That is so old school. They don't need fingerprints anymore. Don't you remember, everyone got the "chip" on their last visit to the flu fling ding party. In fact there are still parties going on at many retail locations.

maybe someone can dig up the old B/W(i think?) digilog manual and schematic?
Alright kc8gpd, I found what you asked about, a build-it-yourself FM transmitter with stereo generator. I found the instructions while paging through a file of old circuits.
This project was published in Radio Electronics, July 1992, and is a detailed circuit and 3-page article about building an FM stereo transmitter based on a BA1404 chip.
I hope you can find a way to trace back and find this, my scanner is out-of-service and I am not able to make copies.
It does not mention the power output, but the instructions describe tuning it up for maximum output to nearby radios, so it's probably close to Part 15 compliant.
I would stay away from that! It was good for its time because it was the only very simple way to construct an FM TX with stereo audio.
But that chip has way too many problems that even with the published modifications done by end users over the years, the chip is still inferior and less than an optimum choice these days.
If your going to make an FM TX with a chip at the heart of the whole thing, then use the BH1415 instead.
But if you want real performance, I suggest building your FM TX from discrete components that form circuit sections of the whole so you have better specifications like stereo separation, signal to noise ratio, ability to adjust pilot and 38 sub null, inject RDS and a ton of other things.

i'm looking to retrofit my lpb fms2000 cable modulator with a high quality stereo gen system using balanced 600 ohm inputs
