I was notified this morning that our application for an LPFM has been granted.
I have 18 months to build-out the station. If needed, another 18 month extension is possible.
The next step is to apply for a call sign and begin the building process once funding has been appropriated.
The ride gets fast from here on out!
Congratulations.
Please let me know if I can help out with (free) advice about antenna and tx hardware, coverage studies, etc.
Rich
That is some super fantastic news Mram. Very best
It's hard to tip a winter cap, but it is a gesture of honor and respect for a worthwhile achievement. Congratulations MRAM 1500!
Also, to Rich, goes appreciation for willingness to be of help, if needed, in putting the new LPFM station together.
This should put an end to the polar vortex and warm things up.
Thanks all for the accolades.
At this point I am polling vendors regarding equipment and costs.
I'll be contacting our "tower climbers" soon. The antenna will be at about 120 feet.
Thanks for the open offer Rich! I may need to pick your brain a little if I run into a wall.
Hi MRAM! I guess you're going to
be very busy!
We will all enjoy hearing about the
building of the station - when you
have time to tell us. It's a big
deal for you, and for us, too.
Even though we won't be there, we
can make believe that we are.
This is a once in a lifetime thing!
Bruce, DOGRADIO
MRAM 1500 has a tendency to stream everything.
First, there's MRAM 1500, a part 15 station, followed by a streaming link to the City T.I.S. station under his care, a courtesy link to his area NOAA Weather Station, which I understand even the people at the weather station enjoy, and a UStream link presently viewing the silly-scope which displays the modulation for MRAM 1500.
Would it make any sense not to stream the new LPFM? Of course not.
We will be there via radio.
CONGRATULATIONS! WTG, MrAM1500! WOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I nominate KOCF, since all other variations are taken. (KCFO wouldve been great, as well as KMRM)
OHIO, CUYAHOGA FALLS
edit: and then I remember Ohio is the land of W-Callsigns
There is WCYH and WOGA
like Woahga in Cuyahoga!
Congratulations MRAM, lot of work to do now. Wish you succes.
Waste no time in reserving a call.
looks like we've got some radio stations to build!
My antenna needs to be around 170 to 175 feet. I have two donated towers here on the ground, but both are too short (30 feet and 45 feet, respectively) and neither is compatible with the other.
This brings the total to three of us here on the forum holding LPFM construction permits, I believe. Best wishes!
This is really exciting! We can follow
what all of you are doing!
Bruce, DOGRADIO
The CP (Construction Permit) for my LPFM has not come through.
It is believed that this is related to the fact that I have not filed an Application for LPFM.
At the beginning of LPFM, years ago -
people were talking about different power
levels. It was then thought there would
be a 100 watt power level, a 10 watt power
level, and yup - even a 1 watt power level.
Do any of you guys remember this??
I thought the 1 watt level would have been
perfect for me. Oh, by the way -
Carl, you're a genius!
