East Hill Radio now on the Internet
I took the plunge and East Hill Radio is now streaming on Live365. I've put a link on my web page http://habu.dtdns.net/ehr that goes to the Live365 page.
What does it cost to do a live broadcast with live365? They take care of all licensing for the internet don't they?
I'm on the lowest cost premium plan with 10 standard listeners and I'm paying $17 per month. (VIP listener count is unlimited.)
Yes, they handle all the ASCAP and BMI dues for you.
What have you done as far as studio space? I've thought about trying to get a local office building to donate a small office cubical (almost).. just some place people from the public can come to use the radio equipment and do their broadcasts.. right now everything I have is automated due to lack of an office... but it would be nice to get things running.
Hey Frank,
Congratulations on getting your Live365 stream up and running.
I've done the same thing almost, only with a Premium package at
about $31 a month, which does also include the BMI, ASCAP, etc.
I am simulcating the WJJD-AM Part-15 broadcast during the day, and when
it signs off at sunset, I just let the stream keep going all night. I just got
everything working this past weekend.
I'm in a doublewide mobile home that has kind of a wing of sorts with 2 smaller bedrooms, and right now, that's where the station is. Those rooms are about to burst with all of the radio stuff so hopefully it will have its own space fairly soon.
matt, maybe you can find a space in a small strip mall or something to that effect. The rents here are unbelievable.
I'm planning to have an open house later this spring for friends of the station and our church families.
I started small and will expand my listener count as needed. I also figured it's a good way to expand my reach until I can either add more transmitters or raise my existing one.
My studio is tucked in my den right now. I'd like an office space, but would have to barter for it. So for now, the station lives with us.
Hi Frank,
I just went to your site - stream sounds really good.
WJJD's country stream is at http://www.live365.com/stations/alanmccall
and is called "WJJD The Country Giant." There are some really old songs
on it sometimes - but many that folks recognize.
I'm also still raising support for Resort Radio at http://www.expage.com/radiomall. For anyone interested,
you can read more about it there - still chugging along on that
project.
I'm streaming 32 bit which is about all I can do for now. The automation computer has its hands full with running SAM2 and generating the stream. I tried MP3-PRO, but was getting some skips in the music. So I backed off to a regular stream.
