I was emailed by someone asking me about am transmitter design. sounds like he came across my old posting for a transmitter design based on the hamilton.

let me know what you all think and i would be interested in any input and i am guessing the guy who emailed me probably reads these forums too and would also be interested.

this was my reply to him....

Seems to me a Talking house type AM Stereo transmitter that features PLL tuning, internal auto ATU to tune a 3m whip. (like talking house) (use a binding post arrangement, not that cheapie speaker terminal arrangement)

a remote 3m whip automatic ATU option (like the talking house) (note THII uses a manual ATU) use decent 50 ohm coax for the ATU and a RP-TNC jack)

when doing a remote whip ATU setup i recommend putting a final RF deck in the remote whip auto ATU to get around the 3m rule on the remote ATU)

A well filtered well regulated internal power supply using a 3 prong grounded plug similar to a AC cord for a PC. use a toriodial AC transformer.

well shielded and isolated power supply, audio, RF, and pll oscillator sections.

XLR RF bypassed servo balanced + 4dbu 600 ohm audio inputs with pre emphasis filtering.

use a discrete cquam design similar to the alfredo lite tx that chris cuff use to make.

Use a Crystal oven and dual speed pll for the oscillator with an input for optional GPS locking of the oscillator.

frequency setting should be via BCD.

keep any kind of computer circuits that will add noise to the system out of the design.
