I see that this forum has degenerated into one man's personal ebay service. Most forums have a separate section for selling stuff. That has always been my nit-pick about this forum - no different sections for different topics. Everything is under one roof.

Yes Sorry about that,

I tried to keep it all under the same topic, but if you have not figured it out this site is slow and has quarks and issues. Sometimes there is no choice to start a new topic because the board software for whatever reason won't let you post too much under the same topic, or it's a result of the site being slow??? Since the crash, and move this site has not been the same. I gently prod admins from time to time in hopes something gets done, and as of late(past week), i've noticed a speed increase. So maybe things are slowly getting done.

If you would like to leave feedback, then go to the left of your screen while logged in and click "Contact" to leave admins a message ๐Ÿ˜‰

About my sales:

My Ex whom I had two kids with died Christmas Day 2006. I find that my back room now needs to be turned into a bedroom for my two kids. this leaves a lot of gear piled up in other parts of the house and garage. no good. So I have decided that I need to liquidate and square off all my debts. My studio has now been moved to a corner in the living room and engineering has been moved into the breezeway and closet in my house.

So for all this is what is going on.

Thank You,

Rev. Robert P. Chrysafis

I think we would all like to see more posted here regarding part 15 topics and experiences, but it is summer and distractions are operative. I have noticed less posting on other boards as well. Even I, who generally has something to throw into the ring, have been doing other things, though not necessarily as much fun as posting here. Perhaps you could post something of interest as you have in the past. What ever happened with the reduced range problem on your AM station you posted? Did you fix it?

As far as one of our posters listing items he has for sale goes, I have no problem. He is not a commercial vendor spamming the site and is just using this forum to advise of the availabilty of some electronic and radio related items which may be of interest to the readers.

My personal preference is to not have things sequestered by topic on this board. Other boards do this and it is very difficult to visit all the subject titled sub-forums to keep up with the big picture. I like clicking on the "recent posts" link to read all the mail. Things such as this are a matter of personal preference and this is mine.

Neil

Joe,

I would agree with Neil here, we are in the summer doldrums, or as they say in broadcasting, it's just a slow news day (or month). And I am sure that the server problems a while back took some of the wind out of the sails of this board as well. It just takes a while to build back the momentum.

I think that Rev. Robert is playing by the rules here and putting all his For Sale postings in the Fest: For Sale Forum rather than the general forum. It would be nice if others jumped in and offered up some more good content. (We could say that about the music industry too, but let's not go there right now...) I will try to come back tomorrow with something. And, like Neil, I would also love to hear about your persaonal progress as well.

I, too, had trouble understanding the "complaint." The forum has at least two roofs: the part15.us Forum and the part 15.us_Fest. The Fest has not been used much for several weeks, and I like to see what members are offering for sale. The Forum didn't have any new posts for over a week, but that is another matter entirely.

Neil,

I'm pretty sure I posted about the resolution to my range problem some time ago. It was ground moisture.

Being in NM, it is usually pretty dry around here. I put the system up in March, which means Spring rains (very little, compared to elsewhere). We had some unusual, early rain in May-June, which improved things. Now, in July- August, we get the normal "monsoons" (again, not much compared to elsewhere). I imagine that in the Fall and Winter, things will deteriorate again.

I got the following figures for Las Cruces, NM from some web site: Average Annual Precipitation = 8.5 inches of rain, 3.2 inches of snow (I think the snow figure is greatly inflated).

Mojoe,

I recall without looking at past threads that moisture was involved. I am rather surprised that this would have a noticable effect but I know you are true to your word.

Here in the Great State of Central Ohio we have had a lot of rain. 1.04 inches over night. Maybe I could send you some if you could send some NM weather up here in Jan. and Feb.

Thanks for the update.

Neil

Mojoe,

Thank you very much for bringing up your issue.

I recall seeing something a long time ago about an irrigation system that was basically a garden hose turned on real low that dripped water into the area where the radials were buried. Would something like that help? Is it even feasible?

Thanks for the offer, but right now, the humidity is high enough that the evaporative cooler isn't working well. This happens every year from about mid-July to mid-August. Some people have switched to refridgerated air conditioning. Everyone says that this costs a lot more, but with the new, efficient units, I wonder if the difference is that great.

As for sending you some of our winter weather, I'd love to, as long as it didn't cause a heat exchange with Ohio ๐Ÿ™‚ I grew up in MD and was stationed in NY when in the Air Force. I don't like cold and snow. That's one reason I live here.

As for ground conductivity changing, when the ground sits under our sun for a few months without any rain, it really does dry out quite a bit. Like I said, I expect that I will again see reduced range this winter. Remember, some others have mentioned putting a drip line at their ground rods and seeing improved performance. I guess I could do that, but wasting water in the southwest is frowned on and will get you fined.

RadioheadC,

You posted while I was still composing my message ๐Ÿ™‚ A drip system is mentioned in that posting.
