Earlier tonight I thought about committing an act of civil disobedience.
I thought of extended my AM antenna to 12-feet, or maybe even 13-feet.
But then I wondered if true civil disobedience needs to be linked with a cause.
An example of a cause would be "higher wages for Wallmart workers" or "water for Detroitians."
By coincidence John David Thoreau's classic essay "Civil Disobedience" will air tonight on KDX Worldround Radio, and maybe if I listen I'll get a better idea of how to connect the practice with antenna extension.
By the way, many hundreds of audio books in the public domain are available for free use from

Every Saturday overnight I air books read by good volunteers. I might even volunteer to read a book, as long as it doesn't contain words I don't know.
Oh, hey! I thought of a cause!
I'm extending my antenna to 14-feet as a protest against 10-foot antennas!
That'll do it!
I'm for FREE stuff. I checked out the above link to the FREE ebooks.
The registration form requires a credit card account. They guarantee no charge will be assessed.
Is this the ebook site you are referring to or was I hijacked?
Oh man, did I goof up!
That was a type of hijack! I just clicked it and felt like a pail of cold water splashed on my face; a slap right across the cheek.
Quickly I awakened and realize the error. Please allow me to fix it now:
See! It's "dot-ORG", not "dot-com."
Please don't let anything else go wrong with my links!
Hello? Hello?
is 89 feet long but it just so happens that 79 feet of it is wound in a coil. Does this count as CD?
Neil
Only if you have a cause.
But, if your 10 foot antenna is all wound up, one long coil, some argue it's 89 feet long and not 10 feet long.
Would this count as civil disobedience?
Nothing is civil disobedience if you don't have a cause.
Saturday overnight's broadcast of "Civil Disobedience," an audiobook of John David Thoreau's book, took place during deep sleep and I missed it.
Meanwhile I've come up with another question about civil disobedience.
In addition to believing that an act of civil disobedience needs to be backed by having a cause (i.e., longer lunches), I think maybe the disobedience should have some relationship to the cause.
For example, blocking traffic in hopes of increasing the input to the final stage of a transmitter to 200mW would be invalid.
The Thoreau book is scheduled again tonight, Monday Oct. 13, at 2300 UTC and I'll be awake.
Join me tomorrow for a scholarly lecture following the education.
