helo will love to know if i could build a carrier am station broadcasting music etc ?? What is the fcc limit?? Could i have the transmiter at home?
Lots of guys on this tonight, goo that there's interest. Music is pretty good on carrier current, because you have broadcast quality bandwidth available, usually more than the 10 foot antenna stations have. There are even stations in AM stereo! One thing to watch out for is hum in the signal, you may have to take steps to tune that out.
Sure, you can have the transmitter at home, it's only as big as a shoe box usually, and there's a coupling unit that's usually smaller.
FCC Rules Part 15.221 gives the legal description of carrier current on the AM band from 525-1705 kHz.

The only company known to build and sell new carrier current equipment is linked here

Because the coupler is attached to the AC power wiring it can be very dangerous and should not be done by anyone who does not understand electricy because it can be deadly.
The transmission can be done by anyone living anywhere (in the U.S.)
Other countries have different rules.
