Helo my name is luis i want to know if icould use carrier curent for my lil internet station??
i heard idont need no ground or antena and cover real good!! could someone tell me if its legal and if i could buy a carier am transmiter
You'd use carrier current to act as a local neighborhood broadcast outlet for your internet station, sure.
You'd need some kind of ground, but usually that would just be the house wiring ground that's already there, or sometimes an added ground rod is needed. The radio signal would go out over the power lines coming in.
I know it can seem odd how it can work that the signal can go out while AC comes in, but that's the way it happens. Other houses on your street that are connected to the same power line should be able to pull in the signal.
There are no real low cost transmitters as far as I know, you can start with a cheap kit 100 mw or a used Talking House, then learn about couplers to stick the AM signal on the line. Some have used a Ramsey AM 100 I think it is, set for 1 watt. Up from there is The Fox transmitter, and Radio Systems, but they're pro equipment and more of a rip for the small home operator.
If you can, search here for carrier current and k-rocksonline I think his name is. Be forewarned, the guy is kind of upsetting, but if you can get by that he has some great info.
