I'm looking for a device that when it detects a CID number i want to block it will dump into a pre recorded message saying "this number is no longer in service" to make the person calling think it is disconnected.
These two examples were listed here:

Advanced Call Center 5.7 by Pingram Marketing
An advanced, yet simple-to-use phone answering machine for your voice modem. All the features you'd expect are supported: call monitoring and logging, Caller ID with pop-ups and voice alerts, "white" and "black" lists, customizable and personalized greetings, and conversation recording. ACC can send call notifications to your pager and voice messages over e-mail. It can also block certain types of incoming calls.
Ascendis Caller ID 1.9.0.0 by Ascendis Software
Ascendis Caller ID works with your telephone company's caller id service to track and announce phone calls and block annoying telemarketers! Each caller can be announced with a variety of pop-up window options, pre-recorded sounds, and/or text-to-speech, and can trigger email, a hang up, or the program of your choice. Advanced scripts provide even more control. Can popup caller in Outlook or ACT!
Download and try a few, or go to your favorite software source and look there. If you bought your modem separately you might have an OEM app that does the same thing, located on the install CD.

even better 🙂 my main PC machine runs 24/7 anyway. adding this function is trivial and cheap. Maybe i'll build a Linux Box and see if sourceforge has a free alternative.
I'm starting to get a little P.O.'d with slick willy and his latest DRM(Vista) ware.
I've been mulling over going linux on everything 🙂

I refuse to buy any machine with Vista on it. I needed another PC and ended up buying another computer E-Machine T2792 2.7 ghz and 80 gig HD --- USED with a new install of Windows XP for about $249 at some computer repair shop.
I originally went to a number of different stores and all they had was Vista, so I asked them if I could install Windows XP on it, they said if I tried that my warranty would be voided.
I will be in the market again for another Win XP SP2 computer within a month or two. Might as well pick up another USED Win XP PC while I still can.
I've purchased many units from this source. Plenty of XP OS units here for now:
