For those who like to listen. You can learn a lot by listening. This site you can post your detected spots. For example, last night I left my receiver on 1710 and lo and behold....
http://dxworld.com/bcblog.html
no internet.
Altho I go outside and get bits and pieces
on my phone.
Anyway...
A fantastic resource. There are also running
reception lists (like the AM BCB one) for the
FM BCB and the ham bands. (6 and 10 meters
are a lot of fun to watch.)
So the night before last here in Hartford I was
hearing a strong 1 kHz hetrodyne on 1520 kHz against
WWKB in Buffalo (sp?) NY. East coast U.S. DXers
will know that this is from 1521 kHz in Saudi Arabia. The
1521 in Saudi Arabia runs a million watts - maybe more.
For years I have tried to hear talking or music from this
station. This week I thought I heard a little bit of talking
and music. But for only a fraction of a second here and
there - so I can't be sure. This has happened before.
The receiver was the mighty Tecsun PL-380. I just don't
know. If I had "rolled tape" I might have been able to check -
but I was moving the radio around all over the place to try
to null WWKB.
My notes say I heard audio from this 1521 5 or 10 years ago
- however - I am still not really convinced as I look back.
With a software defined receiver and a a beverage it would
be too easy.
Very Best Wishes,
Bruce, CBJB, and all the MicroDog Part 15 stations
from the past.
P.S. I am having major problems with the internet. I'm sorry
for any typos or if this message is not written clearly. I
will not be abble to proofread it.
I looked on the AM DX log list but didn't spot the 1710 "lo and behold" mentioned by John WDCX.
What, pray tell, did John behold?
