Audio isolators are used to reduce hum and noise in systems where separate components are used. The link below was produced by a fellow who goes by the moniker "Big Clive" who has a series of videos where he takes things apart to see what makes them work. In the video linked below he explains how audio isolators work and takes one apart so we can see what's inside..

1 to 1 audio transformers as audio isolators with the Talking house to get the hum out. i still have the little audio isolator jig out in the garage in a box somewhere even though the talking house has long been replaced by a procaster.
