I really don't want to start a big ol' site bashing thread here, but I'm amused.

The Oompah Hour celebrated the 100th show this week (see post in the content section) and I also posted this information over at HB. I have a couple affiliates that I see posting there but not here, so I figure it's wise to post Oompah info both places now and then.

The last post I made over there, back in September was that the show for that week was uploaded early and at a different link than usual -- good information for affiliates, I thought.

I noticed THAT thread had been locked quite promptly after posting and was moved to the "principles office" whatever the heck THAT might mean, and my link to the show was edited to be "hxxp" and had a line through it and was no longer a live link.

Either the site owner or a moderator hates polka music or they really don't like it when someone posts who had previously posted transmitter tests here that didn't agree with their tests over there. Got me. But I was amused anyway.

It will be interesting to view the fate of todays post.

For those who wonder why I don't post on HB very much, I really don't have time to discuss things on two sites at once.  And besides it's obvious that they have folks who read stuff over here and then bring it to discussions over there, and plenty here visit there and report over here.  I don't need to double up. But I figure when it's content related and just a simple post of information it's a valuable post.

Now lets not start a big site bashing thing here. I was amused and I'm sharing that. I believe BOTH sites have valuable information, although are very different in feel, style, and attitude, and that's fine.  I still find it too bad that we can't all work together for the common good of Part 15 radio.

I've always been baffled about the posting rules over there, and was amused by the following.

A few days ago, someone from Canada (unfortunately) - a new member - posted a technical question about synching his  5 10milliwatt transmittes that are being used on frequencies below 87 Mhz.  I thought, well, that post isn't going to last long, given their past stance on Part 15 FM.  To my surprise, the webmaster himself responded, with nary a word about the blatant illegality of what the guy was doing.

I too wish that there was better cooperation between the two sites.  There's a tremendous amount of knowledge on both sides, and together we could do a lot more than each does individually.

Tim sets the right example of how to best include discussion of occasional observations about inter-site novelties without resorting to anger or negative bashing... simply to comment from a humorous light-hearted point of view.

Man alive did I ever just tip-toe through that first paragraph trying to balance the tightrope since comment and criticism has never been well received across the way.

The main thing is, and who would disagree, we all believe in the part 15 hobby.

Why claim that "My hobby is bigger than your hobby."

I'll keep it short and simple and end it there.

Bill and the Administrator are two in the SAME person. Not sure why one would scold himself or others as a second person, hence a split like personality. Anything that gets moved to the principal's office is where posts go that are no-no's or bad posts, as in like a bad child who is sent to the principal's office for misconduct. Go figure why your post was considred misconduct.

Bruce.

I have never heard a rumor claiming that the admin over there spanks anyone with a slide-rule, so that's probably something I just thought up without hearing it anywhere.

They'll probably just make Tim stand in a corner for awhile.

I saw your post over ther Tim, I gave a simple thumbs up response, but someone had alreaady posted a positive response before me.. As for the Administrator and Bill being one in the same, I don't think so, I know there is another guy who handles things on the site as he had contacted me when I was having some kind of problem with something there, (dont recall what, nor recall is name off the top of my head).

There are a few folks over there simply referred to as the "webterns" that handle most of the site's administration.

Every since I started the FM Initiative (which now is simply called The Initiative) because we're also including SW and AM as well part 15 (dot) us has been looked at as a bad site by them. But why? Why is an initiative such a bad thing? I agree we need to take things with caution and make sure our T's are crossed and i's doted. But this is not a bad thing. Tim simply showed us data that more power doesn't mean more interference. Look at the Whole House FM Transmitter 3.0. Its rather the transmitter is clean or not that is an issue. Its micro broadcasting for God sake and we do need to stop the bickering and work together. There is a lot getting done behind the scene as well as out front. Our site made a mile stone along with the ALPB at the shortwave fest. Now if other sites would have made a presentation as well they too could have brought part 15 (Micro broadcasting) to light. More and more we are making strides and each step brings us closer to a successful initiative.

I don't think the apparent conflicts between the two part 15 websites is due to any reaction to your Initiative quest. The differences have been going on a long time. I've really never fully comprehended what the deal is, but have always wished the sites could just shake hands and leave the mess behind.

Two of a kind, with the same interest, who just can seem to get along...

i tried to bring the two sites together and it got me banned from hb.net for my efforts. bill has an ego that could fill madison square garden!!! oh and he's always right and everyone else is wrong!!! i honestly think he has a napolean complex. he has to be in charge and in the right with everything at all times.

just my experience and observation with him.

Well this thread ended up exactly where I thought it would.

Time to lock it up, should never have been started anyway.

I don't for the life of me know how the "two sites need to get along" can happen when every time the subject of HB is brought up here it results in negative comments. If you have issues with them then take it up with them.

Henceforth, if you comment about HobbyBroadcaster.net here do so without criticism. Cite content if you like but leave negatives out of it.

The hammer is coming down on this. Sorry, but this has been pushed too far for too long to continue and a lot has been tolerated. Future posts involving HobbyBroadcaster.net will be scrutinized and deleted if necessary.

Thread locked.

Neil
