Anything to report on Grain Industries GI100/1000 Transmitter? Pros or cons?
Somewhere on the web I read a favorable report about the Grain Industries Part 15 AM transmitter, but there wasn't any detail given.
It is FCC Certified, so it must be a serious transmitter.

Looks very compact and low profile, priced about the same as the Chezradio Procaster.
Very narrow audio bandwidth.
Narrow audio bandwidth in Part 15 transmitters is an old problem. It seems that a bandwidth tailored to voice (300 - 3000 Hz) was considered a good thing by some transmitter sellers. It makes some sense if you are doing voice-only announcements.
The old models of the Talking House did this. I also worked with a vintage 1998 USI Trans-AM TA100 that had severely restricted bandwidth. It could be tuned to about 500 mW input power but the audio, even on a good receiver, was a great simulation of what you would hear if you loosely mounted a 2" speaker in a coffee can. Music was reduced to mush.
