The next regular TeamSpeak meeting of The ALPB is Saturday, January 7th at 7 PM Eastern Time.
Wow how the time flies! I'm supposed to get this notice out a week ahead of time but this time of year is busy enough not to mention I started some remodeling around the house while I was on vacation.
Member Carl of KDX Worldround Radio placed a notice on The ALPB forum earlier this week, thanks Carl.
There's been some talk about concentrating on the positives of this hobby and leaving the negatives in the previous year. Yeah! We need to concentrate on everything leading up to the transmitter. Quality sound and good programming is the focus of The ALPB.
Now that's not to say forget the transmitter system but honestly, if you think you will blanket a mile radius with a commercial signal strength-you've been misled. If you have a very efficient system it's not unheard of to be receivable at 1 or 2 miles (AM Part 15.219) but not on your common table radio.
Reginald Fessenden is touted as being the first to broadcast a program of speech and music in December of 1906. He did this on a frequency of 50 kHz with an effective radiated power of 200 milli watts.
I hope that we can be as excited as they were to be heard a short distance away.
I'll hear you at the meeting.
Bob,

I hope my internet holds out we're getting a lot of snow in Deltaville Virginia.

Didn't see anything posted by Carl (Blare) on the ALPB General Discussion Forum earlier this week -- as of ~5 pm CT today, January 7, 2017.
Is that post available to those who are not members of the ALPB?
I didn't see it either, but if Carl did it was probally posted inpromtu in the midst of some ongoing thread. I don't think there's any hidden areas at the ALPB, though there may be some inside jokes.
It was posted to the above named section. Threads in the ALPB Forum pop to the top when they get replies, so you can't rely on just looking at the initial splash page of the Forum (which lists the then top thread in each section) to get everything - you have to go inside each section.
There are no restrictions on READING posts. You have to be a registered member to create threads in the Forum sections and post, but there is an area where Guests can post as well.
Some users and IP's HAVE been banned, but they are obvious spammers, having registered falsely and then posted off topic (sports streaming sites, Viagra, etc.) - the intention is to stop them posting junk, but I'm not sure if they are also banned from reading. If you aren't a spammer, there's nothing to worry about.
