The next regular TeamSpeak meeting of The ALPB is this Saturday, September 5th, 9:00 pm Eastern time (Sunday 0100 UTC.)  Meetings are always the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month with few special exceptions.

Jeff of Nostalgia Old Time Radio has some info to discuss regarding the Talking House.

The Dood sent several documents relating to Part 15 equipment and operations.  I will be reviewing and posting to The ALPB Equipment page time permitting.

Our Facebook page marches on.  Facebook is one of those sites I just can't seem to keep up with.  A person would have to watch that all day long it seems to keep up.  But, it's been a great addition for The ALPB.  Thanks ATrain...

Quite a bit of info flying back and forth regarding the FM initiative; how to approach, what the FCC will act on, Tim in Bovey running tests...  A lot of ground to cover there.

I'm sure there will be lots of discussion so try to make the meeting.

What, some of you aren't members yet?!  It's very easy to join us.  Just read over the Charter Document found at TheALPB.com and if its agreeable to you simply download and install TeamSpeak Client 3 and let me know you'd like to join.  I'll send you the TeamSpeak server address and logon info.  That's it!  Nothing to sign or send in.

Hope to see or rather hear a crowd at the meeting...

Radio lovers who check us out here at part15(dot)us may not realize they are totally welcome to join the ALPB.

Even persons from other websites and who may feel shy or outsiderish are welcome to listen in or speak, whichever.

In these last days prior to the world's sixth major extinction event we can try to perfect low power radio.

This now is a rough draft of an official statement I plan to deliver at the Sept. 5 Meeting of the ALPB.

We don't know what's going on. Oh sure, we make every effort to have some idea what we're doing, and we get well intentioned guidance from persons of experience.

For example Rich dedicates himself to explaining the absolutely sure fire way of complying with the rules with such wise guidelines as using only certified equipment according to manufacturer's instruction.

But then Tim delivers the staggering news that a well known certified transmitter is way above certified signal strength and could be a gateway transmitter to a life of noncompliance.

At the same time we launch an organized effort to seek upgrade of 15.239 to Canadian BETS levels only to be informed by Artisan Radio that Canadian BETS is not what we knew it to be and we are no longer sure what it is leaving us not knowing what to upgrade to or how to describe it in this sentence.

We are part 15 radio broadcasters and we don't know what's going on.

... using only certified equipment according to manufacturer's instruction. ...

I wrote that the user is responsible for meeting Part 15 (if that is the goal), whether or not the transmitter is Part 15 certified.

Rich revisionist:  "I wrote that the user is responsible for meeting Part 15 (if that is the goal), whether or not the transmitter is Part 15 certified."

But you see, your sentence above is incomplete and not ready to end in a period.

GIVEN that users of low power radio transmitting equipment is responsible for meeting Part 15 (which is what you said, except...) a coma belongs here, followed by...

GIVEN (but omitted) that users of low power radio transmitting equipment have no means of measuring or verifying compliance to "meet" Part 15.

We are, to remind everyone, talking about Part 15 FM.

All this talk about the initiative (If there is one) Artisan had to leave too.  Makes me wonder if we have the meetings too late at night don't know.  But I was trying to say that i didn't know if there was enough interest on this site that people would even say "Yes I want to be a member!"  Remember I had a post about this a few weeks ago and an impromptu meeting as well.  FWIW we have a separate channel on Teemspeak for the initiative as well.  I'd really like to know do we have members and there was a post I made earlier sometime suggesting Artisan Radio be the one who helps with the petition since he can be looked as a non partial member since he does not have a personal goal when presenting the petition or writing it.  I don't know if feelings got hurt last night or whatever, but we are still in my opinion no further ahead if ever an ititiative was to be formed.  Only that we have a separate passworded channel.  As I have mentioned as well we do need the passcoded website to where there would be a forum dedicated to the initiative so that opposite parties don't know our play by play to spend time writing a book to debunk it.  We did however have some nice info about the Talking House AM Transmitter that did come up in the meeting and ideas about antennas.  This all happened after Atrain and Artisan had to go.  Sorry for the folks that could not stay or make it but there was some good AM info and antenna ideas as well.
