A Great Way to Find Open Frequency's

Some of you folks may know about it already, but I found a great website for finding open frequencys. It is : ' www.radio-locator.com " .

I did a search for all stations (FM, Full Power,Commercial, non-commercial, LPFM, FM translator, FM Booster, CP, etc). I had them listed by frequency within 110 miles of my zip code. It returned 212 stations in my search area (large mountain city). You can get the coverage map for each station, along with specs like ximitter power, antenna height, height above average terrain etc.

It is a great site! I found a frequency that I never thought of using for my station. I now know the adjacent stations and their coverage maps, along with the coverage of other stations on the same frequency as me within 110 miles (you could search 10 miles or 200 miles). One station I was worried about was only 60 miles from me, but when I looked at the tech data & maps, I saw it was oly 105 watts...no problem!

I'd like to hear what others think of this site. It has many other uses. After an hour on the site they boot you off for the day.

Y'all,

"Oldguy" (a monniker defining me too) found the site in question months before I did. But then, I've been in and out of P15 stuff for decades. Now I have the Web.

I put Danmarks Radio's jazz channel on my computer, hose it up to my FM tx and sit out in the yard listnin' to Yardbird and Dizz.

And thanks to Oldguy's discovery (www.radio-locator.com) I have a hole in the spectrum where I don't have to worry about K-love covering up my puny little signal.

En gode opdagelse har du gort, Gamle! Tak!

Nils

UPDATE>>>>>I found an even better frequency finder site.

www.recnet.com

hit "FM/AM/TV Query " at the top of the page and search to your hearts content! It will find everything from full powers to part 15 open frequencys in the area requested.
