Installing the software and drivers is not very intuitive.
You download SDR#, maybe from AirSpy. You have to unzip the files and place them in a folder as it won't install directly from the Zip file.
Then you have a couple things to install. Running Zadig downloads more stuff and installs some drivers. Httpget figures in there somewhere. Then you have to run SDR. At least I think that's how it went.
There are instructions readily available which detail how to get it working. In one case the fellow said he was not aware of any drivers that work with XP but that's what I'm running...
It may be cool to receive HD Radio with this SDR or even those sub carrier Radio channels too.
Here is a great WebSDR which is shared over the internet by Twente University in the Netherlands. It is a bit bigger than a dongle and can be used by multiple users over the LAN or Internet.
The WebSDR is a cool gimmick.
If a Part 15 station set up such a web SDR on their own website it would make a way for people everywhere to actually tune into your Part 15 signals from far away!
That is going on the Buy List!
Hey good idea. Wonder how many listeners you can have at one time? I'm sure it will take a lot of bandwidth from your internet connection if you had too many.
Fortunately the formula for estimating the number of listeners your internet connection can serve at the same time is easy enough that I am able to figure it out.
My upload capacity is 4.25 Mb-per-second.
So ok, you take a streaming speed, let's pick 24 kb/s... that's 24,000 bits-per-second... divide that into the upload capacity: 4,250,000 divided by 24,000 = 177.0833 listener connections.
BUT, you've got to save a little overhead for other routines being run on the computer, such as browsers, e-mail, the running of Zara or Winamp...
So, let's make it 170 listener slots.
I rarely get more than 2 "listeners", so there's lots of room.
I am not sure that every connection is a listener. Might be a hacker.
I'd have to figure out 128K if I was to use web SDR. Lucky I have unlimited streaming with my sponsor's server. It would however get you past the need for a Shoutcast Server however.
