Ouch. Maybe changing the battery can wait. Thank you.
Earlier today I thought the new Sangean MR-99 was broken because it wouldn't turn on. I started tapping other buttons and no response. It had been re-charged, so I figured it was out of order. Eventually I figured out that the 'lock' feature had gotten toggled. I had to open the instructions and read about 'lock', and now I'm one day smarter but still have no dollars.
Every time I glance over and see the new Sangean MR-99 radio I feel so good about it that I want to turn it on and listen to it. As a matter of fact I am listening to it right now and it's 15-feet away over on a nearby wall sending a clear, well distributed sound. A serious radio station needs the best radios and this one does the job.
The battery inside the MR-99 Radio runs down somewhat fast, and right now I'm watching the last two bars while wondering if it will drain down to one bar. I think fully charged brings it up to 4-bars on the voltage indicator.
It should last for a day of playing on a charge.
It did finally melt down to one bar which started to blink. It has already been recharged. I like charging things. It is fun.
The MR--99 Sangean Radio was one stubborn brick for more than a week. It wouldn't turn on and wouldn't obey the commands. The last time this happened the 'key' feature had locked the radio off, which I figured out. This time I finally cracked the code and learned that when the 'Weather Alert' status is on none of the buttons do anything. It is nice to have the radio back. The 'Weather Alert' got turned on by mistake. This sort of thing could be a big problem during a real emergency.
Other Sangeans are like that too. I use mostly the H205 as it's completely water proof/weather proof and has good sound and great reception also but it has the weather alert feature and if that button is pushed it does the same thing as you found. But the screen says weather alert on and it stays on a weather channel. You can turn it off and on and it doesn't matter. You have to push the weather alert button again to disable it and it switches to radio again.
