Oh.. just to mention, Chrome (or whatever browser) has to be the open window, I can browse other websites in new tabs with webex playing in another window, but I cant for example reduce chrome to open up notepad or my mail app or whatever because this cause WebRX to stutter badly and eventually quit.

The browser has to be the focus window or WebRX will not play

In such cases I just switch to your standard webpage player which works fine even if chrome is not the focus window.

I don't understand that.  It's been there all along, at least for me.

You can change the opacity of the settings and the rds windows to virtually transparent (in the display settings) so that both virtually disappear.

Just saw your initial post.  I've never had the stuttering problem you describe on desktops and laptops, but it does happen on my smartphone as well.  Multitasking on a smartphone isn't the greatest, that's probably some of it.  The load placed on a smartphone with streaming isn't very high and the bandwidth used is fairly light (64kbps).  Compare that to approximately 250kbps from the SDR (using the FM profile).  I also suspect that OpenWebRX+ isn't handling the buffering all that well, and is placing a large load on the browser.

If you're listening to Artisan Radio, you should probably use the stream for smartphones, and that or the SDR for laptops/desktops.  One thing I am going to do when I get a few spare hours or days is to modify the code & add a setting so that users can turn off the waterfall display (which I believe is the primary cause of the stuttering).

That sounds right. I can see how and why phone multitasking might be limited. I wasn't complaining though - guess it sounded like it. Anyway, even on a phone it's trouble free as long as chrome is the main window, the WebRX window doesn't have to be front, I can browse other sites while its playing, just cant open other application over it. (I dont know why I bitched about it in the first place, must have been in some kind of mood.)
