Agree fully Artisan....the forum shouldn't be a bashing site.
Had to respond to the misfortunate circumstance of the other forum member.
I'm not just talking about Hobby broadcaster when I bring this up. The reason I bring this up is that I've seen other websites do the same thing. Particularly the paranoid sites or the sites that are connected with ad companies in which their site is a ruse to try to make money from advertising. Anyways here's what some of these sites do and I'll point this out:
Some sites in order to try and discourage a person from using a VPN will require an internet provider type email address such as Roadrunner for example. Well I'll just say this I had CenturyLink for a while many years ago but my CenturyLink had been canceled. However my email was never canceled and for the fun of it I logged into it. I wanted to find out if I could sign up for a particular website that required the sort of thing. I didn't even live in Elizabeth City North Carolina anymore and haven't for many years. Point is I used that email address and I was able to sign on to the site in question and the admin never even knew it.
The point is with all the paranoia of some websites there is always a backdoor or way to get in if someone really wants to. However one has to really ask if it's really worth it there may be an ulterior motive to why they want so much information on you. Some websites sell information to third parties such as Facebook does and even Facebook doesn't really like you to use a fake name in your profile although I gotten away with that.
I would steer away from any website that is trying to get your real internet provider only to pull your internet address to which could be used if a webmaster got mad at you to give you denial of service attacks and even if they're not mad at you they could spam you with a barrage of ads when they see that particular provider in that location on their website. Ad blockers may work but there are those drive-by download programs that some websites use to try to sneak adware into your computer. You have to wonder what the real motive is for such a website and I would be very leery of any website that has that sort of policy in it. After all if I was a hacker I'd want to get the most information out of my users that I could get so that I could do whatever it is I need to do and your internet providers email address is a sure fire away for someone to really know your location and you'd be surprised what is available from the Secretary of State about you. Be forewarned once again of any website that has such an ironclad policy.
Thelegacy there is a CB Radio people call it the clown forum the dude that runs it is a real ahole. He runs the forum just to make $$$ and holds fake raffels. These raffels were for cb radio equipment one time there was one going on admin made a post saying pm me and you will get 3 free tickets for the raffle. I pmed him 45 min later he pm me back saying your to late entries are closed and then the closed the thread about the raffle. I heard the raffles were 100% fake the same few people always won them and they turned around sold the item from the raffle and did a 60/40 split of the profit from the item with the admin. The admin if he did not like your comments and he was having a bad you were banned. I got banned from that forum and so did a lot of other people. I hate forums with a admin that is way to strict I try to stay away from them. I think it was last 2016 I joined HB made one thread asking where to get content for my station they shut me down realy quick and I think I was banned.
Howdy You All: I have all you guys beat!.
I was permanently kicked off hobby broadcaster.net
For having user name and password problems
If that isn't lame, I don't know what is!,
But he has his right as well even if we don't agree with it
But it's his loss of good people and information on his site.
I will leave it here and ended it.
Have fun

A former member of HB and this site told me in an email that he did not like me because I was a participated on this site. I think he has a loyalty oath somewhere kind of like Donald J. Trump.
I bet by now you know that you have touched a nerve! I joined HB when I was new to Part 15 broadcasting and was accepted because I did not have a freebie email account. However after about 3 weeks I could no longer login. I attempted to contact the site administrator and received no response. I then attempted to re-register and again received no response. I have no idea what my sin was. No worries, you are on the right track. Participate on Part15.us and join the ALPB. The ALPB's web site is thealpb.com and most of the action happens in the ALPB's forums at ALPB.Boards.net. You will receive all the help, feedback and support you will ever need.
As someone who has been a member of Bill's site since nearly the beginning and has contributed some of the content featured on it, it's a shame to see a useful site being squandered by his heavy-handed management of it.
If he really was as passionate about and dedicated to this hobby as he claims to be, then he would be happy to see good ideas and helpful resources being shared among the Part 15 community, rather than locking it down to near-inaccessibility just to attempt to claim ownership of it.
And pumping his forum full of threads he creates himself in an attempt to make it seem more active and get higher search rankings is just tacky and deperate-looking. Furthermore, threatening to kick out "low-participating" members is shocking. I myself got one of those e-mails a few weeks ago and was stunned by it.
I hope this incident has caused Bill to re-evaluate his decisions and consider the ways his site can once again be as accessible to the community and as welcoming to new users as it was when he first started it.
Kevtronics,
We have no relationship with that forum so it would probably serve you better if you contact Bill about your concerns.
You are welcome to participate here but please go lightly on negative remarks, true or not, about other sites.
We have no time or posting limits for members. As you may know, this site is being rebuilt so things may take a while to settle down. Many older posts are still here and are being sorted into the sub forums. Otherwise, you can find many posts in the "temp" sub forum.

I have seen other communities splinter apart due to people not being able to see eye-to-eye and I sincerely hope that is not starting to happen here. In such a niche hobby we should all be helping each other out and setting a good example regardless of which forum(s) we choose to participate in. But we must recognize where there is room for improvement on both sides. Therefore I hope my comments on where I believe such improvements can be made are not taken the wrong way. I did not mean anything personally against Bill because like I said, I've been a long-time member and contributor to his site and hope to continue to do so.
Been a while since I posted.....
But why am I not surprised by this topic?
As a learning person, do not mention anything about making a part 73 type accepted transmitter part 15 by using an antenna attenuator....I mean I was simply asking a question, wanted to try a transmitter used my LPFM stations for the audio quality part 15 transmitters seemed to lack.
He instantly posted some red lettered below my post stating: WARNING HB DOES NOT CONDONE PIRATE RADIO...BLAH BLAH BLAH!
I never said I wanted to run pirate radio, I was simply asking if it was possible to attenuate the power of a FCC Type accepted part 73 transmitter to part 15 acceptable power level before it reached the antenna, I was later accused of being a pirate and talked about in a private forum and posts referring to me and posts with stolen images of my radio station studio were stolen off of my station Facebook page and posted, also other info was shared as part of their topic called "Hunting down a Pirate" which was about me.
Watch what you say over there, Mr. Blowhard will use it against you when you least expect it!!! I was simply asking a question out of curiosity, never did follow though with getting a part 73 transmitter.

i have been observing the webmaster over there from the outside for years. i have been in the mental health system since i was 5 both as a patient and a worker. i have longtime experience with mental health but no formal training.
IMHO the webmaster over there has some kind of mental health issue. not sure what exactly but there is definitely something mental health wise going on there that he needs treatment for and i have noticed it appears to be getting worse as the years go on.
there seems to be a lot of people in this day and age (way more than i remember as a kid) with untreated mental health issues.
it sure would explain a lot of his behavior i have observed over the course of nearly a decade.
