In Albany NY, WDCD (with sticks nearly exactly midway between Albany and Schenectady) has turned in its license to the Commission. The station suspended operations in recent times due to financial reasons and even petitioned the FCC for a reduction in power: 50kW down to around ten kW, which was refused. So they pulled the plug permanently.
This opens up a spot on the dial for a Part 15 signal at 1540 kHz, potentially in Albany, Troy AND Schenectady, on three synced transmitters fed via AoIP. Do we have anyone out that way?
BTW, if you want to see what their former facility looks like, open Google Maps and paste in 42.732963, -73.863593. There is a lot of land behind those big towers, so somebody is going to make a buck from this decision.
