The latest station upgrade is a new rack! Yes, baby, just like in AV club at school. Well, sort of. It's an AV rack and it has wheels, but not the kind your old 16 mm Bell & Howell projector sat on. I mean, you have to be old to remember those. Gen Z here are like, what's 16 mm? Say silver halide.
"Some assembly required". Yeah, my favorite! Right after that grill/smoker I assembled.
I do look forward to organizing this station better with the AV rack. Presumably I'll be able to roll it out of the room easily if need be as a room saving benefit. Looking for an appropriate desk to work from with the upcoming new sound board. I am open to suggestions, please, on a good desk or place for the board.
Ok, solar. Yeah, it's a back up device. Mostly a science project to see what it can really do between charges and how fast it recovers. The old one really just powered a transmitter for mobile. This one could power the rack if I went on the road with it and a full PC suite.
All coming from the big signal at Radio Phvern with 100 mW of power!
Update.
So I added a rack several months ago, but life interferes with radio operations. Got around to finally assembling the Vevo rack with four additional Pyle shelves.
Pictured are some of the shelves installed on the rack with gear. Station was obviously down for maintenance during this process.
Instead of just the usual surge protection I am adding regulated power to the rack mounted power. Also will mill out a plate to mount the inbound Schlockwood as a rack item, unless I can find one for sale that's a close enough fit. And if I can locate my VEC back-up transmitter I will mill out a mounting plate for it as well.
Planning to mount three monitors to the wall immediately above where the rack sits so I can have a smaller footprint with desk space. The radio station is moving from the spare bedroom to the master bedroom where there is so much daylight it is blinding, per the suggestion of Mrs. Phvern. Spare room will be formalized into a guest bedroom.
Future update about the solar back up.
