We are in a time when many people fear that AM radio is dying of old age, but I think that many of us want it to be saved and have noted that among suggested ways of redeeming AM radio such remedies as putting AM onto low power FM or giving AM stations more effective radiated power are nice but overlook one of the elephants in the room, that being the amount of shabby programing on the dial, which is certainly a disease of elderly self-neglect in need of a vaccine, but so far no one has suggested another cure would be a bringing back of AM stereo, but this time doing it right, do you hear me FCC?
I ask you.
Considering that the push for AM Stereo had been such a hot topic and still failed to gain any real traction at a time when AM radio was still considered relevant, it seems pretty unlikely such a push now would even make the news (except for maybe in a novelty "lighter-side" news kind of report).
And it's unclear to me on what kind of impact the "Project 2025" thing would have on commercial radio (if any), or any bearing on a revival of an AM Stereo objective.
