A.M. Radio stations have the Santa Ynez Valley covered for Disaster Preparedness

“What we had to do to get coverage in the county. AM radio is what's considered a lower band radio... So we had to actually put five separate stations or repeaters in North County to keep that and get as much coverage as we could,” says Hubbard. ..Should a disaster of any magnitude occur such as a fire, earthquake, flood, or any other loss of power, these remote stations will continue broadcasting alerts and recommendations... County officials recommend programming handheld and car radio stations to A.M. 530 so you're ready before disaster strikes."

Laughlin Says Goodbye To Louisiana AM

... owner of Dallas-based GAP Broadcasting, which is today agreeing to part ways with an AM radio station in the Bayou State..., GAP is signing off on the sale of KTIB-AM in Thibodaux, La., to “POWER 102.1 FM LLC.” At 640 kHz, KTIB is a Class B with 5kw daytime and 1kw at night, from 3 towers. It enjoys a signal that covers Baton Rouge and New Orleans...Terms call for POWER 102.1 FM to pay $350,000 for the facility. At closing, 10% will have been paid in cash via a deposit already made to Laughlin. ...There is no broker or finder associated with this transaction.

You may have heard.. With all the fancy gadgetry in cars these days, AM radios would be too cumbersome, they claim. That would be a shame since much of our entertainment, news, and other valuable information comes through the classic AM radio band that can’t be found in many other places... Is social media handy? Sure... ... As co-host of “The Morning Show with Jeff & Will,” I may sound a bit biased in my defense of AM radio.... To see AM radio pushed out because car manufacturers find it inconvenient, well, that would just be sad....
