I know there was one a few days ago, and yesterday they issued a warning. Haven't seen one for today - do you have a link?
These things have the potential to disrupt communications (and even the power grid), so warnings are appreciated.

Every time we hear of a solar flare it never does anything here that I know of. No power outages nothing.
But those solar flares are like nuclear bombs on the sun 1000s of times more powerful than what was dropped on Japan by the USA and the radiation from that(Xrays and Gamma) along with cosmic rays emitted from that travels throughout space and yes bombards earth also. When this happens more gets through the earth's defences and we get more here even at ground level. Not a time to be 30,000 ft up in an airplane or on top of a mountain. Normally sitting out in the sun on a day in summer you get the equivalent radiation of a couple of bite wings you'd get at the dentist. But cosmic rays from space and solar flares is actually atomic particles bombarding living cells and more deadly than just electromagnetic radiation in the Xray and Gamma part of the spectrum. In other words the sun is radioactive. Just worse with solar flares.
