Imported from a recent post on Part15.org, comments to which are embedded below:

I’m personally getting rather tired of the discussions surrounding Part15.219 (or RSS210) antennas, ground leads, etc.  The intent always appears to be negative in nature, and an attempt to discourage current and future Part 15 broadcasters. ...

From context, this appears to apply to posts here having accurate technical details about the operation of transmit systems that comply with U.S. 47 CFR Part 15.

It is logically unclear as to how/why that information should be characterized as negative. and an attempt to discourage current and future Part 15 broadcasters — who by participating in this site, presumably want to comply with Part 15.

... And leave those who have no intention of ever doing Part 15 broadcasting to their charts and wordy diatribes.  It probably makes them feel important.

IMO, such statements demean the person(s) to which they are intended to refer, and discourage all participants of this website from a reliable expectation of fair and reasoned responses to their posts.

The Rich Show Rerun

I understand completely the honest and straight-forward critique from Artisan Radio regarding negative-based diatribes long showered upon these threads in cyclical repetition with their unauthorized "notification of risk" from a character not qualified to represent the FCC before hobbyists of which he is an outsider.

Yet at the same time I was concerned when this peculiar fellow went silent for a length of time and his role as "the family crank" was sincerely missed.

Glad ta have ya back, Rich!

May your ground leads be short and stubby!

The problem with the ground lead discussions is that when it's taken to it's greatest extremes the outcome results in unreasonable approaches to adhere to it..

This is what led to the recent notion (within the last decade) of mounting a part 15 AM transmitter inches above the dirt in a very unreasonable an nonsensical position - It is a method which has never been used or even considered at anytime during the extended use by the thousands of installs throughout the U.S. by the Dept of the Interior (parks and recreation). It has always been either pole mounted over the head, yet still well grounded, or on the side or top of an existing structure. And that is still the common installation method used today.

This new extreme exist only within the part 15 forums and was instigated solely by your own personal efforts of constantly pressing the issue, beginning about ten years ago.. Despite the "accuracy" of your points it has proved to be the major cause of damage to the part 15 community in general, yet it has never been a real issue to the FCC as far as enforcement goes.. and still isn't!

It further frustrates the situation that you are neither a part 15 broadcaster nor an FCC official. Yes, your observations are valid and your expertise valuable at times, but overall it often comes across as detrimental and counter productive.

I have been a Moderator here for some time, and also over at the ALPB until Jim Henry became Chairman.

One of the more difficult aspects of the job is to determine a poster's intent.  If you take each post of even a blatant troll in isolation, they may appear quite innocuous, and even reasonable.  But taken as a whole, another pattern emerges.

The intent of Part15.org is to help its members DO Part 15 broadcasting.  To DO it legally, and with a support network in place in the event that issues occur.

It is NOT to create an atmosphere which is negative, and discouraging.  It is NOT to create an environment in which one individual's continuous repetition of his version of the rules and "technical accuracy" is to get in the way of actually getting out and DOING something.

Until such time as you appear willing to use your radio knowledge (while recognizing your lack of actual experience with Part 15 broadcasting) to help, rather to hinder, and act as an elder and statesman (which you eminently qualified for), you can expect to get this kind of push back.  And maybe more.

Adding to the Heap

In the past we've had ultra-conservative moderators who forbid critiquing on open forum and directed all complaints to the CONTACT button out of view of readers, thus muzzling many points of view.

It is better this way, involving forum members in the discussion, entertaining Rich's seasonal efforts to control the narrative.

Springtime starts next week... reptiles, um... well, enthusiasm is on the rise.

You've not made a response to any of the views expressed in this thread of yous Rich. You asked, we answered. Is your reaction only silence? Or are you still mulling it over?

And by the way.. speaking for myself, my intentions is not to demean you, I am only honestly expressing what my conflicts with you is about.

_______________

Still mulling it over.

I expect that to take a very long time, as many of the responses made to my opening post continued the practices I was highlighting there.

Until Next Time

The Critic said: "Still mulling it over."

Translation: Still nulling it over.

A year from today we'll be into another round of KENC and the Long Ground Leads because it marks a high-point, a life-achievement, the ultimate "I told you so" about the risk of part 15.
