TheLegacy will be so proud. I think I'm an activist.
Today's activity includes several actions and I'm not acting:
First there's my new door, twelve-feet high, with my new title stenciled in bold font:
TOP EXECUTIVE
Inside the door I have the largest desk on any part 15 forum.
At this desk I will make executive decisions and engage in small talk.
I've asked you all here today to explain the definition of a "blogum".
As we know, a "blog" is a "web log", basically a one-way journal of one's thoughts and experiences, whereas a "forum" is a gathering of peers exchanging thoughts and sharing activities. A "blogum", therefore, is a blending of the two.
Within the Part15.org Forum my Blogum will amount to a single thread to which I post my singular ideas and executive diktats. It is a step up in efficiency, compared to the many scattered threads in the old way of doing things.
That will be all for now.
Transmitter Proposal
At KDX Worldround Radio the Carrier Current service has been off the air for a long time, since our LPB 2-20 Transmitter failed.
Plans exist to repair the transmitter and we also have taken ownership of an LPB 5-Watt Transmitter which needs to be modified for our operating frequency.
While these repair projects are postponed we are seriously considering a new TR-6000 Model 15.73 Transmitter from Information Station Systems (I.S.S.), the only new carrier current unit known to exist in the U.S. There would be advantages to this upgrade but the price is not easy to swallow.
I.S.S. has become today's most active source for low power transmitters, including their iAM Part 15 Unit and the forthcoming ATU (Antenna Tuning Unit), which some of our colleagues are investing in.
What would you do? What are you doing?
There is a blog section here in the Forum. That might be an appropriate place to post your blogum. Recent posts in blogs also show up in the recent posts for the Forum.
Will Check It Out
Artisan: "There is a blog section here in the Forum."
The main idea for the Blogum was to keep a thread that accepted responses, which a true blog would not be able to do.
But since this is Part 15 the blog section of the forum might not be a real blog, in which case it would do the job.
Or, since I'm into intra-medium simulcasting maybe we should post everywhere!
May your transmitter be small.
The Search for the Lost Blog Section
I've looked under every rock and cannot find the blog section.
In 'Members', under your ID. There's a menu item named 'Blog'.
Before Moving the TOP EXECUTIVE OFFICE (Carl's Blogum) to the Blog Section
Artisan Radio said: '"Recent posts in blogs also show up in the recent posts for the Forum."
Having located the Blog Section I opened an experimental blog titled Carl's Back Room, but it isn't showing up in the Recent Topics.
How will anyone ever find Carl's Back Room?
Ah, I see.
Posts in blogs show up in Recent Posts (on the right of the screen) ONCE you are in the Members section.
They do not show up in Recent Posts in the Forum.
I knew they showed up somewhere, as that's how I found some problematic posts a while ago.
My mistake. I'm not sure the Part15.org Blogs is what you want.
Snap Decision
Artisan provides system secrets: "I’m not sure the Part15.org Blogs is what you want."
I very much appreciate what has been learned regarding forums and blogs on this website.
What we will do is continue Carl's Blogum as my public-facing storefront, and Carl's Backroom as a place to work out deals and collusions.
Tried three times to respond to what should be done if a bat is in your station. Wouldn't take.
It Took
Rich Powers attended the Carl's Back Room Open House and submitted a "Comment", which lead to this notice above: "Tried three times to respond to what should be done if a bat is in your station. Wouldn’t take."
Number 1, glad you stopped by.
Number 2, your Comment DID take in the form of an email sent to me! The Comment doesn't addend itself to the actual blog.
I'll keep a baseball handy.
Oh! that makes sense, it's exactly the way it works on a regular blog.
Another Thing About It
The Emails that get sent out when commenting on someone's blog here on this website are labeled: "From J.P.Janze", which maybe the admin could change so they are more correctly shown to come from the actual sender?
Blogs in Our Midst
There are other blogs tucked away within this website including an interesting Trends Forecast by Rich made back in November last year. I wonder if Rich thinks that trend has continued or perhaps changed direction(?)
CC Help from the Back Channel
Two colleagues who do not post to this Forum contacted me through the Back Channel (Email) with strong advice about the carrier current transmitter situation.
Based on their advice we have tabled and shelved the notion of investing large money in a new TR6000, at least for the time being.
Details of what they recommend will be described here as I find time.
