The title says it all, and that's the National Science Foundation, a leading funder of basic science. The action is in line with his policy of eviscerating basic science (and health). It may not even be legal, as Congress is supposed to oversee the NSF. But when has legality ever stopped Trump before?
In related news, Trump once again called for the firing of Jimmy Kimmel. He really doesn't like that free speech thing.
He also has destroyed so much in regards to the environment, opened up all crown land which is wilderness to exploration and development, nothing is off limits, and now in Alaska it is legal to shoot polar bears on sight by oil companies. The EPA which protects us has been affected too. If it is environment or science it is on the chopping block.
Only about two and a half years to go.
Countdown timer to the end of Trump's term.

I lumped in climate change and the environment in basic science, but it's good to highlight that as well.
@richpowers, think midterms. It could be all over after those.
