Been thinking about and looking over some old emails lately from Carl Blare and in one of them about 3 years ago he had mentioned:
".. By a coincidence right at the time I neared the age for Social Security a campus I worked for decided not to renew my contract and I am still burned by some of the persons responsible for canceling me. I think it was age discrimination but younger people who act so superior will also grow old and probably get the boot..."
I asked him to elaborate on the "campus" he had worked at thinking maybe he was referring to some campus station.
He replied:
"Oh. The "campus" I worked for was not a radio job, just one of several contracts I had to provide audio/video services on behalf of the AV production business my wife and I ran before she died. It is not something I blog or talk about in my 'on-line' life."
I'm not entirely sure but I think that's the only time he ever mentioned his wife.
Sometimes I would be drunk during our conversations, one such time he had replied with this:
"I envy your drunkness. I miss drink. My organs no longer tolerate alcohol due to age. I love beer and wine in some ways better than I loved women. Of course a woman who enjoys sharing the bottle can be pleasant. The Germans have invented powdered beer which will eventually come to market, and I intend to boldly experiment with it.
Later.
Carl
Carl was a very interesting person. Enjoy the odd people you're surrounding by while you have them.
Yes he was, he's always stood out in the Part 15 community in a positive way. But really everybody is interesting and odd in one way or another. It's always the best or the worst of which that stands out and who are remembered the most when their gone.
I suspect he's looking around right now saying 'Well how about that? There is an afterlife after all!"
