It's called satire. As I stated, it says something of the political situation in the U.S. when people could think that it might be real.
I'm well familiar with satire and dry humor, being British 🙂 However, when you're communicating online with someone you don't know very well at all, it's hard to tell if they're deadpanning something, or actually being serious.
That's why I tried to think of the craziest, most ridiculous thing surrounding radio. I thought I was being silly, particularly about the border wall (although given the 'geniuses' in power, I would imagine they would consider it - you can wade through the depths of those minds and not get your ankles wet). The really sad/funny part of all of this is that people thought the scenario was possible.

I thought you were being serious, but didn't even consider for a moment the story itself could have been true. The problem is you sounded serious, going into such details.. it just didn't sound to me like you were delivering a joke, so initially thought maybe you had somehow misinterpreted the current PBS and GPB funding controversy somehow because that kind of relates to Trump.. but even there I couldnt comprehend how you could of confused it, so I figured you must have listened to some ridiculous commentary on the radio or something and took it as a truth (I've noticed it's not uncommon to hear ridiculous spins and twisted propaganda on some opinion radio shows).
I thought you were being serious, I thought you ctually believed it, but it was quiet clear right off the bat that the story was false. I guess the satire angle went right over my head because I never heard you be satirical before.
