Mental Health

The Part 15 radio hobby is made to order for promoting good mental health for senior citizens. We hear about older folks becoming depressed after the responsibilities of a career and raising a family fade into the past, but with the day to day building and running a personal radio station there's a renewed sense of purpose and the chance that neighbors 'might be listening' creates a virtual social life. For me the operation of KDX is so uplifting that I'm not even bothered with the collapse of the banking system, the coming drought-caused food shortage, the predicted malaria epidemic, nor the climate-caused weather disasters. It's like being a billionaire without all the bookkeeping.
