He's done the "impossible"

Personally, I could care less either way.

For those who do care, you can probably get back your high level access with a new type of VPN service with the name of Mysterium.  It uses peer to peer residential IP addresses and the claim is that it's almost impossible to detect without deep pack inspection (and even then...).  The only exception would be if one of the IP's being used had previously been blocked on a site, in which case you just change locations.

I came upon the product and company a little while ago while doing some research for another issue.  Currently, I use Windscribe as a VPN, but even when using obfuscation, their servers can still be detected by some services created for that purpose.  If Mysterium really works, it could be a winner, particularly in those areas of the world where Internet access is severely restricted.

But back to the topic at hand.  It might serve HB's purposes better if they just go totally off the radar.  They can still keep their little group chats going, and continue to claim ownership of all the google links to other people's stories that they publish.  Because, you know, everyone and everything is out to get them <eye roll>.

I'll just say two more things, and then be done with the topic.  First, in the Radio Discussions thread I posted about previously, there was one entry that really struck home to me.  The poster was commenting about another Forum where the webmaster deleted and/or modified any posts that he didn't like, and how unprofessional and immature that made him.  Even if that particular Forum wasn't HB (but it likely was, I can't see there being two of them), I agree whole heartedly with the latter conclusion.

And, ironically, all HB's actions do is help make Part15.org more prominent.  Let's take advantage of that.

Keep in mind my Internet is my phone, I've noticed several times where my location shows up as being in Jacksonville Fla and other times in some other city in Georgia, so I don't really quite know what's going on there, but it might have something to do with why. I'll give it a try from a public wifi tomorrow if I go to shore and see if it still loads, but you know it could be nothing.. servers across the web don't all update at the same time, it could straighten itself all out. Could be that none of this is due to anything lol or you suspect.

Getting 403 again. It's a comedy, but no one really knows what's going on.

That's just the thing, nobody has ever been out to get him, or been against him. He has always manifested every bit of it himself, his oppositions have been of his own creation, and he stubbornly hangs on to it, never shrugs things off or lets things go, constantly feeds the monster to prove it's real. But his own perception is all his problems originate primarily from here and always has. In reality it originates from his own actions and reactions and lifelong grudges over insignificant and inconsiquential matters. 

It would be so much better if he were more community minded and less self righteous and pseudo authority of part 15

I think that hits it squarely on the mark.

Yesterday I noticed I was again able to access  hobbybroadcaster.net site but that the forums are no longer accessible at all without a sign in - before, as you know, you could see each category and the first comment of each thread, but not anymore.

I thought, well if he wanted to keep everything secretive (as ludicrous as that objective is) then that's what he should have done from the start and he wouldn't have to worry about anyone "stealing" his topics.. (kettle calling the pot black).

But the main site which I usually can't access was back in full view - yesterday, but not today, "403 Restricted" has returned yet again.

But here's what I don't get, Google can still tell me what today's new topics were.. Bill really needs to get on the ball and correct that:

• Barix Audio Transport Security: Members are troubleshooting secure audio links for remote broadcasting.
• 3 Meter Radiator Matching: A technical deep dive into antenna impedance for Part 15 transmitters.
• Production Library Pricing: Discussion on current market shifts in commercial radio production tools.
• In The Public Interest: Regular community updates on broadcasting advocacy.

Poor Bill, he just can't seem to win, the more he tries the more he ridicules himself

I got access to his website today, and I was using a VPN!  In the past, he has restricted the use of VPN's.

And yes, I could see the latest topics in his Forums, but couldn't read them without logging in.

He's obviously done some work in his security.  Whether the access through a VPN was intentional or not, who knows?

Who cares?

Addendum: I attempted to access the site using my regular IP (i.e., no VPN) and I got the 403 Forbidden.  So he obviously still blocking IP's.

Again, who cares?

Further to a server blocking search and AI bots, there are non binding (from the point of view of the bots) ways to do this, via a robots.txt file.

Most major search engines comply with the requests in that file.  Some AI bots do.

But it is not a guarantee, and a lot of AI bots ignore it.  Some search engines do as well.

The only way to guarantee security of a website from these crawlers is to either password protect parts (as Hobbybroadcaster has done), or block the bots IP addresses.  And if you do the latter, in some cases, you may actually isolate your website (there is overlap between search and AI IP's), affecting the number of people finding it.

There are websites that you have to password protect to secure important content.  For websites that claim to want to help others in a hobby, and be the premier source of information for that hobby, you should want it to be public.  You're cutting off your nose to spite your face, otherwise.

And not doing what you claim your objectives are.  We all know that with Hobbybroadcaster, that's the case anyway.

Lol.  Now back to a 403 error with the VPN.  I checked, not because I was interested in anything they had to say, but I was waiting to see how long it would take them to notice and correct the flaw.
