’70s Rock Band’s Concert Leaves Fan Baffled: ‘I’ve Seen More Movement at the DMV’

One fan couldn’t believe what they were seeing at The Eagles’ Sphere concert in Las Vegas.

Excerpts:

Most concertgoers expect to be up and moving, especially at a show like The Eagles’. But one fan at their recent Las Vegas Sphere performance was stunned to realize the entire crowd stayed seated the entire night.... Their run began in September 2024 and continues through March 28, 2026. .....

As Billboard wrote, “the way the Sphere screen truly envelops the stage allows the crowd to be transported both musically and visually, and the Eagles’ show took a journey from under the sea to above the clouds (with some terrestrial stops in between).”

It sounds like a jaw-dropping experience — but one concertgoer didn’t share the enthusiasm. ....
“I’ve never witnessed a group so committed to staying seated,” followed by the wry comment, “I’ve seen more movement at the DMV.” ...

One user explained, “Sphere tickets come with an explicit warning that you cannot stand.” Another added, “It’s not a standing venue, and at this point in life, sitting to watch a concert is so much better.”

For many fans, the rule isn’t a burden, it’s a relief. The comments were filled with people sharing how tiring traditional concerts can be. One wrote, “It hurts to stand bro. It didn’t always. Look at the crowd. Go easy. They all used to stand.” Another chimed in, “Wish all concerts were like this.” .....

Joe Walsh opened up to Rolling Stone about how overwhelming the technology initially was. .... He explained how the sound system changes everything. “On the Sphere there’s 160,000 speakers behind the screen,” he explained. “No matter where you sit, you have speakers pointing at you, so they don’t have to be really loud. To do that, computers have to delay it a little bit from what we’re doing. Because it goes to everywhere in the Sphere and comes out of these speakers all at the same time, there’s a delay there to process that.”..... ....
