Lol.. I just noticed Bill over at HB has added a caption to his signature..
"The site so unparalleled the others copy from here ... right, Rich?"
Give me a break dude, I don't copy from you, you're way behind me in my dust. Your funny.
I find it pathetic.
One big difference between there and here is that here, most of the posts consist of original work, either completely, or follow ups to linked stories.
Over there, it's mostly only hyperlinks.
And when they do do original work, it leaves much to be desired, such as the review of ProCaster FM. There's very little there about the transmitter; it's all about HB.
I think the only topic similiar to here going on over there is that which is connected with the Delete Delete Delete hearings, but I subscribe to the same REC newsletter as he, and that is where we both probally obtained that info because REC sends out regular updates. That's where I posted that info from.
I do on occasion post a direct link to a topic on his board if it catches my interest, but I say look here at HB where so-and-so brought up an interesting point...
We ain't enemies here son, ain't nobody trying to steal your stuff, were just here to enjoy the hobby without having the site owner often editing our post to correspond with his own petty grudges which never end. I was shocked when you spoke of Richard Fry's passing on your forum -- that was so weird, after years of banning even a mention of his name on your forum and editing it out of others post if anyone mentioned him.. same goes for Tim in Bovery, Carl Blare, Mram, who else.. I'm not sure, but none of their names are permitted on your forum either.
Why? maybe its because your a petty man. You really need to learn to let things go, it's not good for you and it detrimental to everyone else.
Soak that in Bill. It's undeniable.
Ain't nobody want to be like HB, most of us like forms to be ran in a reasonable manner. Get over yourself.

I tend to disagree with that, there certainly are good discussions that go on over there, but not anymore than here or elsewhere. Nor is there any exclusive information coming from anywhere.
I will say I think keeping the new FM transmitter release hush-hush was peculiar - not just there, but here too, there were at least a few members here who had known about it for months.. and you kept it quiet for HBs sake? So HB could do a write up on it first?
Why? but ok.
@richpowers To correct you on one point. I knew about it but I respected Gerry's commitment to Bill that he could be the place where you hear it first and I kept the secret, not because I care about Bill, but I wanted to stay friends with Gerry and respected that agreement between the two of them. I told Artisan as I knew he would also keep it quiet.
All that said. You can not deny that he has done a great deal in keeping part 15 AM in the media spotlight, more so than anyone else, with his articles frequently published in numerous magazines and publications over the years. Personally, I have problems with Bill, but you can't deny his substantial contributions to the hobby.
His forum tactics is the only thing you can honestly criticize him for.

Yeah I know Mark, and do understand. But at the same time it kind of bugs me that you two, both having direct associations with the manufacture probably knew about it before anyone.
But I do understand that you kept it quiet only because Gerry asked you to keep it quiet until HB released the news.
My attitude about it is probally off-kilter, and upon reconsideration it does make perfect sense that Gerry wanted to hold back info until HB revealed and promoted the new transmitter. It's the best place to do it.
Well, it was HB that insisted on that exclusive first public look, and the manufacturer made the decision to meet his demands. I was not made privy to the reasons for that decision and was just as frustrated as you appear to be; perhaps they didn't want to become another SSTran, which was effectively blackballed by that site for not bowing down and kissing the ring.
In any event, I don't think that the results were stellar. The so-called 'review' consisted of several pages documenting the 'trials and tribulations' of HB in testing the transmitter, with a short conclusion that it met Part 15 specs. Well, duh. It was certified, after all. And then there were some thumbs up and thumbs down, which had little to no relationship to the actual document. I was looking in vain for some explanation, particularly for the bit about potential distortion, but there was nothing. What was the basis for this comment? Was it just made up?
Anyway, Mark, in a brief post here, gave more factual information about the transmitter and its operation than that 'review'.
The biggest issue surrounding all of this, however, is that HB believes that they are the center of the Part 15 universe. They were willing to delay the introduction of a transmitter (it was ready to go for weeks prior to the publication of that 'review') for their own benefit of an 'exclusive'. They accuse others of copying from their site, when their site consists mainly of posts on a Forum that consist of internet links, with little original work surrounding them. Isn't that in itself just copying what you find with a google search?
There is one of Bill's links that stands out to me even today.. It was about 5 years ago I guess.
Bill does usually start each day by making 4 of 5 post with links to a story.. there was one time he posted a link to a article, I don't remember what the story had been, but I had read it and thought 'what the hell is this? I then returned to the forum complaing about he article on how it really didn't say anything, it was a very odd article devoid of any real info at all, not even an opinion piece.. it was just like some kind of extended statement of nothing..
So after reading it I posted a reply asking "Why did you bother to post a link to that article?" and went on to elaborating on the pointless of that article.
Bill replied that he doesn't have time to read every article that he provides a links to, so one cant expect every article t be a good one!
I swear! it's right there in his forms somewhere!:You don't read most of the articles which you start each morning posting links to everyday? - really? wtf?
I began paying less attention to his rash of daily links after that. I was awed, I couldn't even beleive that he admitted he hadn't even read what he had linked too. He just finds links each day hoping one or more of the links will incite member participation.. which is perfectly reasonable.. BUT AT LEAST READ THE ARTICLE YOUR LINKING TO!
There had been tangible friction between Bill and I for about a year before he ultimately booted me out.. I had been expecting that it was going to happen, but it took a long time for him to do it, which really surprised me.
Dave and I had private correspondence going on at that time - both Dave (Rugster here) and I were still members there... and in one of our discussions Dave had commented something like " You know Rich, sometimes I think you bait Bill" - and I knew exactly what he meant and admitted "Yeah, I guess I do bait Bill" - it's so easy to get him flustered.
But I didn't do it out of meanness, it was more retaliatory, because I had been getting so infuriated by his incessant editing of my post, which sometimes changed the whole essence of the topic, but most times it would be because I referenced another forum or mentioned someone's name he didn't like. - and other times the editing seemed to be for no particular reason at all.
I've said it before, HB is not a members forum, it is a Bill Defelice forum with members.
ok.. I could go on and on.. but I'm done. But Bill should have never added his signature caption directed at me, as ludicrous as it was..
The site so unparalleled the others copy from here ... right, Rich?"
I noticed today that the signature had changed, calling himself an industry recognized Broadcast Engineer.
That's a tautology if I ever read one. Any Broadcast Engineer would be recognized in the radio biz. He probably meant to put in 'respected'.
I'm always here to help.
Yeah well, I regret my tirade response rant. I went overboard.
