We went through all hell to sign into the One Plus Store only to find that it only sells a few tech products. Are we missing something?
Very good YouTube video that goes right to the heart of the matter. I watched it once but haven't yet tried any of the remedies.
One possible clue is that the cellphone message says "Check password" for the Wi-Fi Network. The Android is having a problem saving the password and does not show it after I type it in. Instead it says (not changed). Weird.
The THING is recharging right now. I found out how I ended up in SAFE MODE. I call it "The Safe Mode Trap". Not always, but some of the time when pressing the POWER OFF button a window pops up giving two choices: REBOOT IN SAFE MODE or CANCEL. So, you select CANCEL, but then the phone switches back to the HOME screen and doesn't power off. Therefore I selected REBOOT IN SAFE MODE trying to somehow get the power off. Now I know to avoid it and have found an alternate way to power off.
We just had a storm here, dawn is happening.
Status Report regarding the OnePlus N200 I'm working on.
The phone portion of it is perfectly fine and can be used to place and receive calls.
Getting the Chrome Browser re-installed is still a slow-motion process because I am studying all the information on 'how to do it'.
Linking to Wi-Fi has still not been accomplished, the fixes that have been suggested didn't work. And there's another bug in the potato soup:
According to my router's manual, there are settings available especially for enabling connection of Wi-Fi to a smartphone. The directions seem complicated and I will be studying them slowly to absorb the instructions.
Meanwhile eat well and show affection to partners and pets.
It's possible your phone wifi is defective. Try removing the password from your wifi network, and then connecting via the phone.
Removed wi-fi network password from router and tried to SAVE but it said THIS FIELD IS REQUIRED.
In the phone Wi-Fi department the password shows (unchanged) which cannot be written over.
CORRECTION
In the Wi-Fi Net setup on the phone I can type in a password but it always reverts to showing (unchanged) and on the network icon shows "Check password"
SMALL CEREMONY DURING NOON HOUR CENTRAL TIME
At this time I would like Artisan Radio to step forward to accept this token of our esteem, a virtual gold medal with neck strap, for assistance given in this thread to restore Carl's Smartphone to original condition.
I may have feared inadvertently re-formatting the entire phone causing me to avoid taking the advice, but finally I followed the instructions for 'Complete Reset' and must say that at one point I thought all was lost but it kept going until that grand moment when CHROME was back in its place!
Now there's one last hurdle to overcome, as the latest attempt to connect to Wi-Fi showed a message saying "Authentication Problem".
But we have the rest of the summer to figure it out.
And tribute goes also to Part15.org and all who contributed to this milestone.
You are truly blessed.
Here's where we are.
My original attempt to set up a Google Account to get me into the Google Store was rejected because "I had violated Google's terms of service in 2022", except that I didn't have this cellphone in 2022 so I entered the Appeal System to beg Google to please let have an account. Google responded after awhile and said they would allow me to have an account. But the attempt to sign into an account got more and more complicated and then was rejected because "Google could not confirm that I am myself". Trying to maneuver around that Google asked me to enter my Gmail address, but I do not and never will have a Gmail account simply because I already have an email account and want to keep life simple.
On another front, I am puzzled by what happens when I click on the 'phone' symbol. By the way, is the phone symbol a 'widget'? Or, in computer parlance would be an 'icon'. True? Anyway, I poke at the phone symbol and two tiny windows open. One of them says "Shortcuts - New Contact" and the other one says "Remove"/"Edit"/"App Info". When I click "New Contact" the thing opens up a "Create Contact" window. But what if I want to simply make a phonecall?
Finally, now having tried over a thousand ways of connecting to Wi-Fi, I am not able to connect.
@carl-blare This is amazing! How did a phone become so hard. You know what to do, ask a kid! 10 year olds are experts at this.
Go into a place that sells these in your area and they will show you. You tube videos?
How come it's so hard to get a Google account on this but easy on a PC?
Not only that, Mark, but Google sent me an email Alert saying that "Somebody tried to log into your account!" It was me!
Then, as things went on, my two computers lost touch with each other and everyone got dizzy and fell down on the floor. We threw up a mixture of peasoup and dumpling noodles, yet had only eaten a slice of whole wheat bread. Sure, I'm exaggerating a little, but it helps me see the difference between fact and fiction.
We still haven't gotten our OnePlus N200 Smartyphone to connect to Wi-Fi, and came across 'WPS'.
Our TP-Link Archer AX55 Router has selectable WPS.
The Smartypants Phone makes no mention of WPS, but maybe...
I don't know. What do you think?
WPS is just an alternate way of logging into your wifi network for selected devices. You press the button on both devices & they automatically connect.
You shouldn't be having this much trouble connecting to wifi. It may be that your phone is defective. If you purchased it through Amazon, you could return it and get another - that might be the fastest and best solution. If the new one doesn't work, then you know the problem is at your end.
Just make sure that you remove your sim card and reset the phone again before returning it.
