Two key updates have been released for popular streaming software.
When I used BUTT, it wouldn't stay running for more than 7-14 days and then would crash. Sometimes it would crash much sooner. Is this version of the software more stable?
I eventually gave up on it, and fell back to using EdCast standalone. Yes, it's old, but it streams mp3 (or OGG) and other programs fail long before it does.
So far as I know the B.U.T.T. Encoder has always performed well and I have never had reason to suspect it of having anything to do with a few performance issues of the past.
I also run a 2nd stream using Altacast which has not been updated in a long time but lets me serve dialup and slow internet listeners in remote locations (MP3 16kbps).
I have tried out B.U.T.T. and it worked well. The only reason I dont use it is because I cast 2 streams Mp3 and AAC+ and you can only use 1 stream with B.U.T.T. I know you can open 2 instances of it but that is a pain with the different settings. Ive just started using Altacast. Altacast is a newer version of Edcast which I had used for years. Edcast didnt give me any trouble while I was using it. I just changed because Altacast was newer code.
