This is very fascinating. It opens the possibility of using AI to converse with people who are unavailable in the reality world.
Suppress any cultural disposition you may have about Sir Salmon Rushdie, this is top notch stuff.

In the article, it states that Rushdie wrote the dialogue - the only supposed 'AI' involved is in the creation of the avatar, and only then to mouth the lines.
No cultural prejudices in this corner, but I'd rather use my imagination. Or read a book.
