The United States today held 'Memorial Day', dedicated to loved-ones lost defending a way of life. In respect to this theme KDX Worldround Radio offered the most melancholic music in the literature, including Franz Schmidt's Symphony No. 4, Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead, Arvo Part's Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, and other such works.
In bittersweet fashion, many celebrate by enjoying the hard-won freedom, by way of picnics and pleasure-seeking road-trips.

In Canada it is Memorial Day in November and it isn't an official holiday or even a long weekend for us to enjoy our freedom. A regular work day.
But I'm retired so every day is a holiday.
