Here comes Oompah Hour #211, available for download at the usual link:
So grab it and your dancin' shoes too!One of the coolest things that happens with the Oompah Hour is when the family of a musician who has long since passed away emails and says "I found my Grandpa's music on your show". That's now happened for the third time. They google search for grandpa's name and if he had a band that was on the Oompah Hour it turns up on one of the playlists that are online. Then I get an email asking where they might buy the records, or get an mp3 of the songs! Three times now -- just emailed off a couple mp3's of songs this woman's Grandpa recorded in the 1950's! You know, most of these records are from small independent bands who recorded them in a small, or home studio and had a couple hundred records pressed, so it's a big deal, and somewhat rare to run into one that you're looking for. Of course there are plenty of big players too that were on major labels with national distribution, Yankovic, Whoopee, Sturr, etc. But there are thousands upon thousands who were small outfits and just pressed a couple hundred records to sell at shows! Fun!And as I type this the temperature here in Oompah Land is 1 DEGREE! ONE darn degree! Easter has come and gone, we're on daylight saving time, and it's still acting like WINTER. We're setting new cold records all over the region. Bring on the global warning!
