I'll blindly ask if anyone is using a network newscast as part of their programming and if so, what network? I'e had some luck with VOA but they're a little stodgy if you get my meaning.
I have been using Feature Story News for about 7 years. Great news, automatically downloads to my system before each broadcast so it's always fresh. No commercials within their 5 minute hourly newscast.
Not free, however. But I consider the $15 a month to be completely reasonable and I cover that cost with a news sponsor.

Don't know what options they offer now, I signed up for the 5 minute news feed 7 years ago and haven't had to deal with them since, and the news download works flawlessly all day every day.

Thanks for the tip, Tim. I’ll check that out, but the cost may make it a no-go. If I have to do advertising this hobby may cease to be fun enough to continue long-term.
I still like the idea of a regular newcast on a music station, a programming balance I grew up with and still enjoy, although it’s pretty rare these days. Local news is still the best, but again, I don’t know how much energy I have to create that kind of content consistently.
