The Win 10 PC I'm using for training how to use Zara has sound. I can hear audio for all programs except Zara.
I go to Options, Outputs then see Speakers/Headphones option for an IDT sound card. I have that sound card chosen for Air Output and Cue Output but hear nothing.
Previously I had Zara running with sound but didn't have a problem. But that was before the Win 10 upgrade for Win 8.1. Any clues?
I have three test songs in the cue with one playing; remaining time counts down and the Left/Right channel bars are flashing. I hear nothing.
These are only ideas and suggestions. I don't have the market cornered on Zara expertise.
First off, how old is that IDT soundcard? Are there current Win 10 drivers for it? https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/how-to-fix-idt-high-definition-audio-codec-driver-problem/
Second, is your music in WAV or MP3 format, or some other? IIRC, Zara uses the Windows Media Player as the basic playback engine. I don't know how much it enjoys seeing AAC, OGG or any other formats that MS didn't have a hand in popularizing.
Along the same line, if they are MP3s, are they constant or variable rate? Constant rates are more stable.
Lastly, are there any other programs running that might be grabbing the soundcard resources? It is generally regarded that an on-air music machine be dedicated to that task only and not used as a general-purpose PC. In other words, no web surfing allowed.
Let us know what you find out.
Try clicking the 'Satellite' button.
That was it! It was the satellite button. I'm guessing you've done that too.
Thanks, Rich!
Yeah, so on breaks I can sit here and fiddle with Zara if it's working. I'm motivated to move further along with this now that I can actually hear the station working.
