A co-worker told me that printers today are "throw-away" devices. If yours stops working, it doesn't go to the repair shop because there are no repair shops. So you end up with enough printers to build a cabin out of them, like over-sized Legos.

While they work they depend on little toy ink cartridges, lots of them each filled with different colors and configured with traps that close the ink-well unless you buy the manufacturer's brand.

HP came up with yet another way of controlling your (their) printer:

HP Ink Subscription

I am trying really hard to understand why someone new to Part15 and seeking advice would care about this.  They search a bit and find this site and this is what they see.

I am old to the activity and I don't care about this.  It adds nothing of value to my interest in Part 15 radio.

You're Not Thinking

Those new to the activity realize that printers carry a Part 15 sticker because they, along with other computer parts, are typically Wi-Fi devices or otherwise emit RF radiation.

Further... printers are a communications medium in the class of media formats including radio, TV, microwave, and print, for passing messages by electro-mechanical  means.

This very forum is a communications medium about Part 15, and no one seems to think it is inappropriate since it isn't low power radio by itself, but is about low power radio.

There is hardly a Part 15 radio station that doesn't rely on a printer as part of its gear.

I don't know why this topic (i.e., non radio posts) periodically comes up.

Part 15 broadcasting covers a whole host of topics, from radio itself, to computers (hardware and software), to studio equipment and even people.

Some Forums even include TV in the mix.

What interests some may not interest others.  I get that.  But it doesn't mean that the posts don't belong in a Part 15 Forum.

If you start to read a post or thread, and aren't interested, you don't have to finish.
