I've pondered over these mesh networks before so this new "Shelly Z-Wave 800 LR" products boasting up to a mile range line of sight caught my eye: https://www.pcworld.com/article/2560201/shelly-smart-home-devices-use-z-wave-long-range-chips.html
"...operate on mesh networks that can support as many as 4,000 devices. ...Citing the ability of Z-Wave 800 (aka Z-Wave Long Range or LR) chips to operate IoT devices over extremely long range—up to 1 mile, line of sight—while running on battery power for up to 10 years,.."
Mesh networks usually relate to smart home use (light dimmers, door openers, temperature monitoring, security etc. But they are also used for smart speakers so you know audio can also be wireless transmitted.. So perhaps it could function as a studio transmission link?
Just a ponderation.
Everytime I see a reference to mesh networks it makes we wonder how it might could be applied to our hobby.. A few minutes ago I found this..
Localised FM Digital Audio Broadcasting using WiFi Mesh Networks https://www.techrxiv.org/users/679540/articles/676685-localised-fm-digital-audio-broadcasting-using-wifi-mesh-networks
"...a distributed system for Digital Audio Broadcasting. Multiple FM transmitting nodes (using VHF II: 87.5-100 MHz) form a WiFi Mesh Network to receive digital audio signals to broadcast from 1 hub node. The components used are off-the-shelf, cost-effective, and modular. It is more cost-effective than current CRS systems for mid-scale local broadcasts, with essentially no data loss between the transmitter units in deployment.... This approach allows for flexible and efficient deployments with wide, precise and accurate coverage, notably remaining equally effective in areas with an uneven terrain, thereby expanding its potential applications."
This is something they are doing in New Delhi, India and the above linked page provides a pdf about
Another from IEEE (pdf) https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/iel7/9616617/9616621/09616844.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwi655LzltqKAxXcQTABHePpOFo4ChAWegQIFhAB&usg=AOvVaw2dh0ILK7M8l4LeuSzUIrB0
My mistake, the second link is the same pdf accessible from the first link.
