I've been looking for some kind of program that will let me update listeners as to what's live on my stream....you know, one of those little doodads that says "now playing: such-and-such".  Anyone know where to find a good one of these?

Are you talking about voice tracks?

Use a microphone and record some using your own voice.

Carl I think Fairbol talking about metadata.. I guess it depends what software your using for automation/streaming, I presume most already have that capability built in - Not Zara of course, in which case it would be done with BUTT and icecast or whatever..

I've never really streamed much, but I'm sure someone here can give you a more specific answer.

Perhaps your looking for something like this:

Easy Copy Paste Widgets ..include our copy/paste code into the <SOURCE> or <HTML> of your web page(s). ..with complete and detailed instructions on how and where to put the code.

Currently Playing Artist Profile Widget -Embed this popular widget into your website to display the currently playing artist/song with complete biography, photo and more! http://shoutcastwidgets.com/widgets.php

There is a stand alone app called Zarawebs which gives Zara the ability to upload it's currently playing file.  Unfortunately it uploads just that rather than metedata.  So you need descriptive file names for it to be useful.

But, it is automatic uploading in the HTML format which can be embedded in a webpage.

Zarawebs can be downloaded from my Zara page at mram.us

Yes but that works only with Zara, He never said what he's using for automation (at least not in this thread). I kind of forgot about Zara RDS!

ZaraFTP

Tool that lets you send the file CurrentSong.txt generated by ZaraRadio to a FTP server. It is useful to display the title of songs in the station's website.

Zararadio works with B.U.T.T. , in Zara's folder there is a txt file called Now Playing or Current Song.txt , point that file to BUTT by going into the metadata section of BUTT and adding the full address to the text file. so it would look something like this.

C:Program FilesZararadioCurrent Song.txt
Now that is just an example but the easiest way to get the exact address is to find the Zararadio folder on your C drive, open the zararadio folder and note the address in the window above the folder for zara. it will show you the address something like what i suggested and you might have to add Current Song.txt to the end of that address, copy and past that into note pad and minimize it to the desktop tray, open BUTT to the metadata section, open the maximize the notepad and copy that address into the window on butt that says read from file.

I do not run windows and I am unable to show a tutorial for this using pictures, however some where on part 15 dot us i did create a thread with the steps involved in pointing BUTT to Zararadios Current Song text file and it works just fine.

Barry.
