Recently, there was inaccurate information published on another Forum (self-promoted as the premier site for license-free operation) about license-free operation in Canada.

They failed to note the distinction between broadcasting and non-broadcasting, which is an issue here.  Transmitters certified under Industry Canada RSS210 cannot be used for broadcasting - you have to use transmitters certified under BETS.

The transmitters mentioned in the post (the ProCaster for AM, the Whole House 3 for FM) are all RSS210 certified, and shouldn't be used for broadcasting.  There is a previous post by Mark (an administrator here) which describes this issue.

In addition, the other Forum didn't even mention the BETS-certified transmitter (in fact, the ONLY current BETS-certified transmitter to date) Decade MS-100.  Nor did they mention several other RSS210 FM transmitters that can be picked up used, such as ones by Whole House, Waio, MYE Entertainment, etc.  I almost forgot about the Decade CM-10 FM transmitter, now discontinued, but still found occasionally used.

Just a reminder to always double and triple check information out before acting upon it, even from supposedly reliable sites.

The forum being referred to also claimed that they "Champion New Equipment for Part 15" while stating that "Others Do Not", which is a false claim.

Using the word "Champion" in this context amounts to warped grammar, given that "champion" is sports slang and the part 15 hobby is not a sport. The obvious truth is that we are all curious and highly interested in new equipment tailored to our special category.

I think we should stand up for truth and reality in these spitting contests.

The nice thing about Part 15 broadcasting is that it is sufficiently small and self contained so that manufacturers actually listen to their user base.

This is not limited to users from one particular site or Forum.  ISS, SSTran, Decade, Chez Radio, Hamilton (and I'm sure I've left a few out) - I know that all are or have been in the past open to comments and suggestions.

I personally know of manufacturer projects within the Part 15 industry that have been and are being influenced by members on this particular Forum.  It's also true that that is the case in the multiple over there's that exist.

Carl is correct; we all want the same thing.  Better and more varied high quality equipment to do what we love.
