David, Artisan radio, has resigned from admin duties. I declined to take on the role but will continue as moderator and the forum guidelines are the same as Artisan set forth.
A new admin is needed. If anyone is interested in taking on the duties please contact Jon Paul at
[email protected]

What does an administrator do? Why has Artesian resigned from it?

@richpowers Well, all I know is it's much more than a moderator does. An admin has to have the computer expertise to work everything, sets the forum rules, has to be able to fix bugs that cause errors like what happens here sometimes, although I don't think Artisan did that.
A moderator is not the admin. but oversees the proceedings as admin wants.

Artisan is having a problem with eye strain and headaches with vertigo from looking at screens and has to for the time being abstain from computer screens. He is running his station old school with records and tapes.

Jon Paul(forum owner) asked me to post for anyone wanting to act as admin.

I've built a lot of stagnate websites in the past but have never handled interactive forum software. If he ever wanted to sell the domain/site I'd buy it (if reasonable ) then I make it a point to learn how to manage forum software and securities and so forth, but I would have no interest in taking on such a load as a participant - not unless I already knew how to do it.

Sorry to hear about Artesian, but I thought he had some special screens that helped with that.

@richpowers You could contact Jon paul and see whether he'd still do the software and security stuff. When Artisan was admin he still left all that to him, I think. Can't hurt to talk to him, you don't have to commit to anything. Just suggesting, not trying to convince you to do it. I think that Jon Paul doesn't want to be webmaster/owner and CEO. He'd rather have someone for admin and a moderator. Unlike Bill at HB who is owner, admin, and moderator all in one!

Originally JonPaul was admin but Artisan approached him and wanted to rejuvenate the forum and asked Jon Paul if he could take over admin duties so I guess since Artisan resigned he doesn't want to be admin himself.

A forum needs at least 3 regular active posters (as in several times a week) to stay alive. With Artesian absent that basically leaves you and me as the only active posters (I know there's 2 or 3 others that sporadically post here, but it's rather sporadic. That's troublesome, but it's also the norm nowadays at all part 15 forums. It takes an intentional effort to keep the forum alive (same as Bill at HB does, he been forcing it to keep alive for years now. I don't want to see this site disappear but I have no interest in taking on somebody else responsibility to maintain or administer their own site, particularly when they rarely if ever visit or participate their own site themselves. I would certainly entertain purchasing the the site and then I'd  be willing to put forth the time and effort involved with the behind the scenes necessities of maintain an interactive forum, but otherwise I have no interest volunteering handling some one else's website. I participate a lot, and that is my contribution.

A few years ago when the forum was even deader than it is now I expressed serious interest (during multiple email correspondence with Carl) in buying part15.org and and overhauling it, but then all of the sudden Artesian stepped up and I backed off, initially thought he bought it,  I didn't realize he just was doing it for Japeze who's only interest in this site anymore seems to be the measly monthly ad revenue from the ad saturation on this site that annoyingly envelopes al threads and pages of this site with ads for those not actually logged in.. which really can't be worth it (I wouldn't think so anyway) because they are quite obnoxious. I'm here quite frequently and I've only seen the owner pop up in here maybe 4 or 5 times a decade, why should I or anyone else manage his site for him?

@richpowers You have some good points and yes the owner isn't in this hobby himself as far as I know. It's hard for me to keep thinking of things to post without rehashing what was talked about before. Artisan wanted to rejuvinate the forum so he took on the admin job but now he has the problem with his eyes and had to back away. I would like to email him to see how he is but I don't know if he is looking or answering emails at this time. And yes you need a couple of other participants to keep conversation going. I never suggested you should do the admin job and I as I mentioned can't do it and personally(opinion) the owner should be admin.
Bill is probably seeing over here and celebrating being the one and only reference for this hobby with it blocked and no one can join...go figure.
Problem is that subjects to post about get harder as all things have been talked about and if there were new comers wanting to do part 15 and asking questions yes we'd be talking about same things that have been discussed for years but it would keep the forum alive. If I don't respond to a post it is because I don't know anything about the subject or have nothing to add.
So for here I don't know what the answer is. It's the same at Micro Broadcasters also. The Facebook ones if someone does post there is some responses at least.

As for the ads they were splitting up the posts so I got ad blocker so I don't get the ads. I would take off the ad blocker(not free) if the ads stayed on the right and not in the posts.

Not in any way suggesting that you should buy it but you could just for fun contact Jon Paul and see if he wants to keep it and if he sold it what would the price be. But I agree 100% the owner should be the admin.

Oh I don't get the ads here anymore either because I'm usually logged in, but when not it's like there's ads popping in every nook and cranny and splitting up post and just awful. But then again, I notice the same overabundance of ads engulfing articles and websites all over the place - however here is the only part 15 hobby site that's ad saturated and in most cases unrelated to the hobby.

I wonder just how many stations are still in regular operation today, there hasn't been any count since way back when - when I forget who it was created that Google map database many years ago, I wonder how many of them are still kicking.
