It was a LPB TCU-30 Coupler and the winning bid was $61.
The excitement is so high over here I am looking down from the ceiling and seeing where I would be if I were on the ground.
I just checked the power wires and they are still there, no copper thieves, ready for the big day.
The first transmitter to feed the system will be a modified Ramsey with the radio8Z upgrade.
I am pre-recording the opening day announcement, something like, “Hello, test. Hello, test. This is carrier current station KDX testing. Do you hear me? If you hear me go outside and sound your horn or shout very loudly, “Ya! We hear you!”
Maybe I should invite guests and a small band.
I don’t think I have a fever, why would you say that?

Big Hurry Taking it slow when tampering with electric power boxes is good advice and the enthusiasm to sign on with carrier current will have to be held in check.

There’s a whole upgrade being done on the Ramsey AM-25 to get it ready for the first input to the power lines.
RFB has mentioned that very small amounts of power can do an amazing job.
Then later, if the Ramsey is too weak, there is a plan to build a linear amp to reach the needed power level.
Slowly and steadily, like a cruise ship. Oh, bad example.

Will Try Both For starters there is a giant 3-prong plug down in the basement that was for the drier, and I don’t use a drier, so I will plug the coupler into the 3-wire service for testing…..
Then I’ll switch to neutral-injection to compare results.
Getting some ground rods put down will need to be co-ordinated with the “dig authority,” so we don’t pop the gas.
It probably will upgrade the electric service to have an actual ground rod rather than just the water pipe, but I’ll check that with an electrician.

Endurance Well CC is a flux-science. Every location will require it’s own unique configuration and grounding system.
Your coverage will be limited when coupling to the hots due to the step down transformers on the poles. Depending upon how many houses are served by a single step down transformer, is how many houses your gonna cover..which could be a mere 3 to all on your side of the block, if your lucky the whole block.
If the power company offers BPL in your community, then the power grid has the bypassing caps on those transformers and your signal should couple around the step down transformers and go wherever the power lines go.
If no BPL, then neutral coupling will be the choice. And head’s up…you will MOST likely need more than one single ground rod, probably at least 3, and make that ground path as SHORT as possible, under 3 feet if possible.
See..all it took was a little patience and a little wait and practically within a few days an entire CC system falls into your lap.
